Sr. Principal Embedded Software Engineer

Senior Principal Embedded Software Engineer role at Medtronic's Neuromodulation Operating Unit, responsible for leading embedded software architecture, design, and lifecycle management for patient-facing implantable and external neuromodulation therapy systems. Requires technical leadership across globally distributed teams while ensuring regulatory compliance and product reliability.
Responsibilities
- Lead embedded software architecture, design, and technical decision-making across development lifecycle
- Define and evaluate software, hardware, security, and RTOS design approaches for product requirements
- Provide technical leadership and design oversight to globally distributed development teams
- Investigate complex product issues through root-cause analysis and hardware/software integration activities
- Advance Agile, DevOps, and continuous integration practices to improve software quality
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree with 10 years relevant experience, or Master's with 8 years, or PhD with 6 years
- Extensive embedded software development experience with complex systems
- 3+ years leading technical architecture and design for embedded systems
- RTOS expertise including schedulability analysis and real-time design
- ARM v8m architecture experience with embedded software development
- IEC 62304 and IEC 60601-1 medical device software compliance knowledge
- Technical leadership experience guiding teams and establishing architecture direction
