The Department of Human Resources Development- State Recruiting Office will refer all inquiries regarding this recruitment to the DOT Personnel Office. The Airport Information Operator I operates the Flight Information Display System (FIDS) to provide current information on flights and baggage claims areas; operates a telephone switchboard and public address system to receive, refer or route requests for information, service or assistance; and to provide 24-hour emergency referral services for the Airports, Division on Oahu; monitors the fire alarm system and routes repair crews or fire units as the alarm system indicates; and performs other related duties as assigned. Basic Education/Experience Requirement One-half (1/2) years of work experience which demonstrated knowledge of correct English grammar and usage; the ability to read, understand and apply written instructions; the ability to understand and apply oral instructions; and maintain logs. This requirement may also be met by possession of a high school diploma or equivalent. Applicants must have had progressively responsible experience of the kind and quality described below and in the amounts described below, or any equivalent combination of training and experience: General Experience: One (1) year work experience which demonstrated that the applicant has the ability to speak clearly, and to deal effectively with people either in person or through telecommunications. Specialized Experience: None required. Experience in the operation of a telephone switchboard, public address system and/or a computer controlled Flight Information Display System. Security Identification Display Area (SIDA) - Federal Criminal History Records Check In accordance with Federal regulations, persons who are being considered for employment in positions which require unescorted access to secured areas at the airport, must undergo a pre-employment fingerprint-based criminal history record check. In order to be granted the Security Identification Display Area (SIDA) clearance, prospective employees must not have been convicted, or found "not guilty by reason of insanity," of a disqualifying criminal offense within 10 years from the date of the application. Upon recommendation for hire, prospective employees will be required to successfully undergo the fingerprint-based criminal history record check and be found free of disqualifying convictions during the preceding ten years.
