Job Description

We are seeking a skilled Diesel Technician to maintain and repair large diesel generators, batteries, and electrical generators both in-house and in the field. This role involves servicing and maintaining compressors on HVAC systems, including diesel, electric, AC units, chillers, and dehumidifiers. The technician will also set up services and repairs based on customer needs and perform preventive maintenance service calls.

Responsibilities

• Maintain and repair large diesel generators, batteries, and electrical generators.

• Service and maintain compressors on HVAC systems including diesel, electric, AC units, chillers, and dehumidifiers.

• Set up services and repairs in the field based on customer needs.

• Perform preventive maintenance service calls in the field.

• Respond to on-call schedule rotation every 3 weeks.

• Run service calls as the technician on call.

• Diagnose rental equipment issues.

• Cover large territory from south end of Lexington to north of Blacksburg, Virginia.

Essential Skills

• Experience with diesel equipment.

• Ability to maintain HVAC, compressors, chillers, dehumidifiers, generators, and other units.

• Basic electrical knowledge to ensure safety.

• Skills in electrical, mechanical troubleshooting, repair, and hydraulics.

• Experience with diesel engines, field service, installation, and using a multimeter.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

• Ability to diagnose and repair HVAC systems.

• Proficiency with diagnostic tools on a laptop for engine systems.

• Knowledge of refrigeration systems; 608 certification preferred but not required.

• Ability to set up services and repairs in the field.

• Experience with rental equipment diagnosis.

Work Environment

You will work a schedule of 7 AM to 5 PM, Monday through Friday, with no weekend shifts. The role includes an on-call schedule every 3 weeks. The position involves both shop technician work and occasional field service calls, covering a large territory from the south end of Lexington to north of Blacksburg.

This is a Contract position based out of Winston-Salem, NC.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $32.00 - $35.00/hr.

Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
