Senior Account Manager, Strategic Accounts

We’re looking for a Senior Account Manager to join our Strategic Accounts team—responsible for deepening relationships with POLITICO’s largest and most high-value customers, including major corporations and associations. As a Senior Account Manager, you will own a portfolio of 40‑50 key accounts across multiple industries. You will drive account growth through strategic engagement, business acumen, and meaningful customer conversations. You’ll partner closely with a dedicated Customer Success team to deliver a best‑in‑class client experience—balancing vision‑setting with execution. What You’ll Do Build and execute strategic account plans focused on retention, upsell, and long‑term expansion. Lead high‑impact conversations—both virtual and in‑person—with stakeholders across customer organizations, from daily users to senior executives. Identify opportunities for cross‑sell and product adoption (POLITICO Pro US, Pro Europe, and E&E News). Build cross‑functional partnerships to advance strategic initiatives, resolve complex account issues, and ensure alignment with evolving product and market priorities. Develop and lead de‑risking strategies to protect revenue and strengthen client value ahead of potential contractions or churn. Partner with Customer Success to align on delivery strategy and deepen customer value. Leverage insights from usage, account health, and industry trends to recommend relevant solutions. Drive renewals with a focus on longer‑term contracts and YoY growth targets. Represent POLITICO with credibility and empathy, serving as a trusted advisor to client stakeholders. Log activity and maintain pipeline hygiene in Salesforce, sharing updates with leadership as needed. What You’ll Need 5‑8+ years of experience in account management, client success, or consultative sales. A proven track record of growing accounts through renewals, upsell, and cross‑sell. Experience successfully working cross‑functionally with a Customer Success team to deliver client outcomes. Comfort navigating complex organizations and building relationships across all levels of seniority. Excellent written, verbal, and presentation skills. High business and sales acumen—you know how to connect policy impact to business needs. A strategic mindset, able to think beyond one transaction to grow long‑term account value.
