Streets Supervisor

The City of Beloit has an exciting employment opportunity within the Department of Public Works, Operations Division, as the Streets Supervisor. This position is responsible for supervisory work involving responsibility for the coordination of the daily work schedule of the Streets Work Group. The work includes responsibility for snow and ice operations, street repair, roadway signage, and street sweeping. The work involves organizing, planning and implementing work assignments and longer-term work projects. The work is performed under the general supervision of a Director of Operations and is characterized by the exercise of independent judgment and discretion to determine work methods, procedures, and problem solutions and is reviewed through reports, observation and periodic discussions.

This position typically works Monday through Thursday from 6:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. Schedule is subject to change based on business needs.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS

• A valid driver's license and satisfactory driving record.
• An Associate's Degree in Business or Public Administration, Construction Management, or a closely related field. A vocational or technical school degree in a related trade and an additional two years of advanced level experience in a construction in a supervisory capacity may be substituted for the Associate's Degree requirement.
• Five years of progressively responsible lead, supervisory or construction management experience in general roadway maintenance.
• A commercial driver's license (CDL) - Class A or Class B is preferred
• Winter Maintenance Supervisor Certificate from the American Public Works Association or ability to obtain within twelve (12) months of hire.
• Certified in First Aid and CPR or ability to obtain certification within twelve (12) months of hire.
• FEMA Emergency Management Trainings IS-100, IS-200, IS-700, IS-800, ICS-300, ICS-400 or ability to obtain within twelve (12) months of hire.
• Other combinations of training and/or experience which can be demonstrated to result in the possession of the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to perform the duties of this position will also be considered.
