Your training spans Orton-Gillingham, LETRS, Wilson, IMSE, or perhaps a Master's degree in reading instruction. You identify a student's reading error and immediately pinpoint the phonemic weakness. You build phonics lessons from scratch without leaning on scripted materials. That expertise is expected. It is not what sets you apart. You create small-group reading sessions informed by live student performance metrics, and you facilitate motivation activities that propel 100% of students toward their weekly app targets using Alpha's motivational framework (school currency systems, leaderboards, developmentally appropriate gamification). Your initial months focus on establishing credibility with students. Sessions must be engaging, appropriately leveled, and demonstrably effective. Student satisfaction metrics and "love your Guide" survey results (target 90%+) directly reflect your success. Once you establish that foundation, your responsibilities expand: analyzing AI-generated performance metrics to refine upcoming instruction, communicating fluency progress and decoding improvements to families, and influencing how Alpha's K-2 literacy strategy evolves in tandem with adaptive technology. As Alpha opens additional campuses, the systems you develop will serve as the blueprint for reading instruction across the network. Before an offer is extended, you will submit a brief video delivering an engaging story suitable for young children, and you will complete a full-day on-campus working session with K-2 students. What You Will Be Doing Creating and facilitating small-group K-2 reading sessions based on structured-literacy principles (Orton-Gillingham, Wilson, LETRS, IMSE, or similar), driven by live student performance data Conducting daily motivational activities that ensure 100% of students meet their weekly adaptive-app targets, applying Alpha's motivational framework (school currency, leaderboards, age-appropriate game mechanics) Conducting and evaluating running records, fluency assessments, and decoding diagnostics to monitor progress and inform subsequent instruction Analyzing AI-generated student performance metrics from Alpha's adaptive platforms to personalize instruction in real time, beyond initial lesson planning Serving as the approachable, energetic adult presence your K-2 students are excited to engage with each day What You Won’t Be Doing Implementing a commercial reading curriculum, scripted lesson sequence, or district pacing calendar; you construct lessons independently based on student data Delivering whole-class lectures; all instruction occurs in small, targeted groups while students work through academic subjects on adaptive platforms Serving as a literacy coach, teacher mentor, or district-level support specialist; you work directly with students in the classroom daily Managing a traditional classroom schedule—subject-by-subject lectures, homework checks, test preparation; your time is allocated to workshops, motivation sessions, and data-informed small groups Evaluating homework assignments or generating report cards; student progress is captured in app analytics and your assessment records Reading Interventionist Key Responsibilities Provide structured-literacy instruction that produces measurable acceleration in K-2 reading outcomes, specifically in phonics, fluency, and decoding. Basic Requirements Structured-literacy credential (Orton-Gillingham, LETRS, Wilson Reading System, IMSE, CERI, Neuhaus, UFLI, or comparable) OR a Master's degree in reading instruction Bachelor's degree in any discipline, combined with 2+ years of full‑time K-2 structured reading instruction in a school or clinical environment, utilizing systematic phonics or structured literacy Proven capacity to independently design reading lessons and clearly explain your instructional methods and content without reliance on published programs Availability to work full-time in person at one Alpha campus: Phoenix, AZ; Oklahoma City or Tulsa, OK; Fort Worth (Keller), Dallas, Plano, or The Woodlands, TX; or Park City (Salt Lake City), UT (relocation assistance available) Willingness to serve all K-2 students (not exclusively struggling readers) and incorporate AI and adaptive-learning technologies into everyday instruction Legal authorization to work in the United States without requiring visa sponsorship Nice-to-have Requirements Practical experience with AI-driven or adaptive literacy platforms (e.g., Amira, Lexia, i-Ready, Reading Plus) for instructional planning or student data interpretation Documented history of measurable reading gains (fluency increases in WCPM, accuracy growth, decoding level progression) with specific numeric outcomes Experience in non-traditional or innovative educational environments (charter schools, micro-schools, Montessori, hybrid models) Experience in performance, youth sports coaching, or other settings where you have engaged K-2 audiences outside formal reading instruction About Alpha Join the team building school around student growth.
