Risk Quantitative Analyst

You may review, modify, or update your information by visiting and logging into the careers section of the system.Job Description:At Regions, the Risk Quantitative Analyst is a member of a key strategic team that is responsible for a very wide range of quantitative initiatives that include stress testing and loss forecasting, economic capital, risk ratings, portfolio valuation, optimization, origination strategies, and other portfolio management analytics.Primary ResponsibilitiesDesigns, enhances, and implements a variety of credit models that rely on mathematical, financial, statistical, econometric, machine learning, and artificial intelligence methodsCollaborates with senior analysts in determining the appropriate credit model to build, given design requirements and data that are often limited or noisyCritically evaluates conceptual soundness of credit models and considers alternate methodologiesAssists in the design of appropriate tests to determine whether models work as designed and monitors existing models for adequate performanceDocuments models, defends methodological choices, and remediates identified technical issues for the purposes of independent model validationWorks collaboratively with other quantitative analysts with a diverse technical background to share knowledge and implement the most appropriate analytical solutionCollaborates with Credit Portfolio Managers, Risk Management, Finance, Treasury, and lines of businesses to identify opportunities and credit-related risks in the portfolio, making recommendations on new credit origination and risk mitigation strategiesOffers guidance and advice to junior analysts on occasionThis position is exempt from timekeeping requirements under the Fair Labor Standards Act and is not eligible for overtime pay.RequirementsBachelor's degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Mathematics, Operations Research, Physics, or related fieldThree (3) years of experience in Econometrics, Mathematical Finance, Statistical Methods, or related fieldProficiency in Structured Query Language (SQL), Visual Basic for Applications (VBA) Script, Python, JAVA, C#, R, and/or Statistical Analysis Software (SAS)Experience analyzing data and building applicable mathematical modelsPreferencesMaster's degree in Quantitative Finance, Financial Engineering, Risk Management, Statistics, Economic, Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Mathematics, Operations Research, Physics, or related fieldCoursework in stochastic processes used derivative pricing, numerical methods, and fixed income securitiesExperience in Market Risk, Captial Markets Risk, or a Trading function, with derivative products (e.g. rates, commodities, credit), foreign exchange, leveraged loans, and fixed incomeSkills and CompetenciesAbility to learn additional systems as neededAbility to research, analyze data, and derive factsAbility to work in a team environment when applicableAbility to work under moderate guidanceAbility to work under pressure and meet deadlinesProficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook, etc.)Strong verbal, written communication, and organizational skillsStrong work ethic and self-motivationRegions will not sponsor applicants for work visas for this position at this time. Other factors which directly impact pay for individual associates include: experience, skills, knowledge, contribution, job location and, most importantly, performance in the job role.
