Wondering what your day-to-day may look like and how you'll be making a big impact on your local community?

The Certified Peer Recovery Specialist (PRS) will provide direct peer-to-peer support services to individuals who struggle with substance abuse or co-occurring disorders. As an advocate for patients, the Certified Peer Recovery Specialist will be responsible for providing peer expertise and consultation to the multidisciplinary team to promote a culture in which individual's treatment needs and strengths are recognized, understood, respected, and integrated into treatment, rehabilitation, and self-help activities. The Certified Peer Recovery Specialist will draw from his/her personal experience of recovery to inspire hope and provide support to others who are facing similar situations.

Essential Functions:

• Developing problem-solving skills to respond to challenging experiences in recovery

• Modeling effective coping and self-help strategies and techniques to individuals or groups of patients to overcome fears, anxieties, urges, and triggers

• Assisting/supporting patients in daily decision making, resolution of minor problems, and crisis intervention as necessary

• Assisting patients in identifying their personal goals and objectives for recovery and sobriety

• Assisting clinic staff in a collaborative manner in identifying environments and activities that are conducive to recovery

• Assisting patients in creating their personal recovery plans

• Meeting with patients to provide advice and support in accordance with treatment plans

• Assisting/coordinating support groups on a regular basis

• Assisting patients in obtaining and utilizing clinic-based and community-based services that support individual needs

• Facilitating by identifying community resources and encouraging participation, engaging in healthy social activities, educational opportunities or providing other support as needed

• Observing behaviors and evidence of general well-being and discussing observations with the patient

• Assisting patients in developing empowerment skills and self-advocacy

• Ensuring timely and appropriate documentation as required by company, state, and federal policy

• Mileage Reimbursement provided for using personal vehicle to follow the unit

Essential Experience Requirements:

• Education/Licensure/Certification: Have a High School Diploma or equivalent with the state-required Peer Recovery certification.
