Staff Tax Accountant

Job Description:

The starting salary range for this position is $75,000 - $85,000 annually. We also offer a comprehensive benefits package of medical, dental, vision, life, AD & D, 401k with company match, and paid time off. If you are hired at Winebow, your final base salary compensation will be determined based on factors such as geographic location, skills, education, credentials, and/or experience. In addition to those factors, we consider internal equity of our current team members as a part of any final offer.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

1. Prepare monthly excise and miscellaneous indirect tax filings to include:

a. Wholesaler beverage taxes

b. Importer beverage taxes

c. Sales & use taxes
2. Run reports and compile information for indirect tax filings that are outsourced.
3. Submit tax filings timely and make required payments online.
4. Review municipal tax filings and monthly payments.
5. Assist Tax Manager with unclaimed property research and reporting.
6. Work with state revenue auditors, when required, to provide requested audit documentation for excise tax filings.
7. Meets agreed upon goals and objectives effectively and in a timely manner.
8. Prepares ad hoc reports to provide requested information to internal and external customers.

OTHER FUNCTIONS

1. Follows all safety policies and procedures; communicates hazards and/or suggests improvements to manager.
2. Performs additional duties as assigned.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS

1. College degree required. Major in Accounting, Finance or Business preferred.
2. CPA or CPA candidate preferred.
3. Organized, detail-oriented, with strong data management skills, particularly Excel.
4. Demonstrated effective verbal and written communication skills.

WORKING CONDITIONS

This position is located in the corporate headquarters in Glen Allen, VA. Winebow offers a hybrid working environment with remote access to all required systems.

EQUIPMENT/MACHINERY USED

Office equipment including computer, telephone, copier, calculator, and printer.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

Sitting, lifting up to 10 lbs., repetitive motion with hands for typing, bending, manual dexterity, visual acuity, driving.
