Job Robot Setup Operator 1st Shift

Job Overview

Perform robotic machine operations; read blueprints and perform basic inspection of finished parts. Perform GMAW welding on a diversified range of standard weldments using American Welding Society welding symbols.

Responsibilities

• Identify and obtain welding fixtures as informed by work order/job traveler and mount them in robot cell
• Call up the corresponding welding program and run first piece to assure conformance
• Edits programs and makes machine adjustments as necessary
• Responsible to train robotic cell operators in accordance with Training Within Industry (TWI) standard work practices
• Performs minor welding functions (tie ins, non-accessible welds or secondary welding operations that are necessary outside the fixtures)
• Prioritizes daily work for operators and load sets parts for jobs
• Move jobs to next operation after final inspection
• May be required to assume the Set up and operation of robotic welding cell as production needs require or in the absences of trained staff
• Use computer to enter production data and print identification tag for parts
• Communicate machine down-time, shortages, scrap, delays in real time to the team captain

Qualifications

Education and Experience:

• High school or general education degree (GED) preferred.
• General knowledge of blueprint reading and weld symbols, work instructions, measuring tools and metal finishing tools preferred.
• Robotic Programing experience is a plus.

Skills and Abilities:

• Read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
• Complete standardized written documentation and correspondence.
• Professionally communicate in one-on-one and small group situations.
• Ability to perform basic electronic tasks using computer software and Microsoft Office.

Working Conditions/Physical Demands:

• Environment is a modern production facility with heat and air conditioning
• Required to stand up to 100% of the time
• Required to reach at or above shoulder level, occasionally
• Required to climb and/or stand on an elevated step or ladder to perform duties of the job, occasionally
• Required use of hands and fingers to manipulate tools and product
• Use of hand tools, both electrical and manual, including hand grinders, air tools, and other fabrication tools.
• Ability to maneuver, stand, sit, bend, stoop, squat, kneel, use extended reaching, and twist while performing select duties of the job
• Ability to lift up to 30 pounds, regularly
• Ability to lift 30 to 50 pounds, intermittently
• Ability to lift 50 to 70 pounds, with assistance, occasionally
• Ability to operate equipment up to 15 feet in the air to retrieve product or tools
