This role will float to the locations listed above and will be eligible for float pay and mileage reimbursement.

The Medical Assistant / Patient Service Coordinator supports physicians by assisting with patient care and completing clerical, environmental, and organizational tasks to ensure a positive patient experience. Daily responsibilities include taking vital signs, triaging patients, stocking supplies, and cleaning exam rooms. The ideal candidate also brings front-office experience, such as answering phones, scheduling appointments, and helping manage patient flow. We're seeking someone who communicates compassionately with patients and families, can multitask in a fast-paced setting, works well both independently and as part of a team, and brings empathy, professionalism, and a strong commitment to exceptional patient care.

• Completes vital signs, specimen testing and EKGs as needed.
• Organizes daily schedule of patients, greet patients and assigns rooms.
• Orders supplies for unit as necessary.
• Maintains competency requirements.
• Coordinates the ordering of blood products in collaboration with RNs, Blood Bank and Laboratory.
• Greets each person entering the clinic, identifies self and role. Explains processes and procedures to new patients and assists with paperwork.
• Participate in interdisciplinary activities such as staff meetings and other committees as assigned.
• Other Duties as Assigned.
• Maintain high visibility. Stationed in a prominent area in the clinic that is readily identifiable and accessible to customer.
• Anticipates and responds to meet customer needs.
• Respond appropriately to crisis situation as a team member.
• Assists in the registration of patients to include verification and confirmation of health insurance coverage.
• Immediately report any situation that may impact safety of patients, visitors and staff.
• Provides front desk coverage as assigned.
• Continuously monitors environment and facilitates correction of any detraction from the appearance, comfort and safety of the clinic.
• Account for all customers in the clinic.
• Provides lobby/waiting room coordination and supervision.
• Serve as liaison between customer and clinic staff.
• Collects 100% of copays daily and correctly balances at the end of each day.
• Coordinates scheduling to include testing.
• Coordinates and manages the bone marrow biopsy schedule for multiple practitioners and bone marrow technician.

Medical Assistant:

• High school diploma or equivalent is required.
• Patient care experience preferred.

Salaries range from $18.59 - $27.96 hourly

Medical Assistant, Senior:

• High school diploma or equivalent is required.
• Successful completion of Medical Assistant Program or equivalent hospital program (LPN/RN/EMT)
• OR successful completion of certification examination (AMT, AAMA, NAHP, NCCT, or NHA)
• OR at least 1 year of patient care experience.
• Must be responsible and demonstrate proficiency in three practice category-specific tasks as determined by the manager.
• Must have basic computer skills and knowledge of medical terminology, examination, diagnostic and treatment room responsibilities.

Salaries range from $18.79 - $28.03 hourly

Medical Assistant, Expert:

• Successful completion of Medical Assistant Program or equivalent hospital program (LPN/RN/EMT)
• OR successful completion of certification examination (AMT, AAMA, NAHP, NCCT, or NHA) and 1 year of patient care experience
• OR at least 2 years of patient care experience.
• Must successfully complete the UPMC Preceptor training and serve as a preceptor and mentor to newly hired team members.
• Must be responsible and demonstrate proficiency in all practice category-specific tasks as determined by the manager.

Salaries range from $18.99 - $28.11 hourly

Patient Service Coordinator:

• High School graduate or equivalent required.
• Minimum of three years of direct patient care and or phlebotomy experience.
• Must have basic computer skills and knowledge of medical terminology, examination, diagnostic and treatment room responsibilities.
• Possesses strong interpersonal skills and the ability to work with individuals from multi-disciplinary groups.
• Possesses excellent organizational skills.

Salaries range from $18.99 - $28.11 hourly Licensure, Certifications, and Clearances:

• CPR required based on AHA standards that include both a didactic and skills demonstration component within 30 days of hire.
• Basic Life Support (BLS) OR Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR)
