Assessment Analyst (Institutional Research Analyst II) Job no: 555093 Work type: Staff Location: San Diego Categories: Unit 9 - CSUEU - Technical Support Services, Administrative, Probationary, Full Time, On-site Position Summary SDSU Career Services is building a centralized, data-informed infrastructure to transform how the university tracks career outcomes, labor market alignment, and work-based learning success. The Assessment Analyst will lead data collection, analysis, and reporting efforts that strengthen institutional decision-making and elevate SDSU’s visibility and impact. The role supports two Presidential Directives and major CSU systemwide initiatives focused on career outcomes reporting, workforce alignment, and accreditation compliance. What You Will Do Track and evaluate policies related to workforce development, economic trends, and career development at local, state, and federal levels. Assist in developing and preparing grant proposals to secure funding for research projects and departmental initiatives. Centralize career outcomes data, integrating and analyzing data across campus systems to support consistent, accessible reporting for stakeholders. Leverage labor market tools: administer, track, and support use of the Lightcast platform; train stakeholders; generate career outcomes reports; analyze economic indicators such as employment and inflation. Design and conduct research, collecting, analyzing, and interpreting quantitative and qualitative data to evaluate programs, grants, internships, and work-based learning initiatives. Lead comprehensive research on student, employer, and stakeholder outcomes using advanced statistical methods. Support accreditation and compliance by preparing reports for WASC, CSU Chancellor’s Office, and state initiatives aligned with workforce tracking requirements. Develop dashboards and storytelling reports, creating data visualizations and briefings for senior leadership, faculty, and external partners. Strengthen grant competitiveness by generating impact reports and data narratives to support current and future external funding. Ensure data integrity by developing mechanisms to verify accuracy, monitor trends, and identify anomalies. Exempt under FLSA; not eligible for overtime compensation. Work hours: Monday‑Friday, 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., subject to operational needs. Location: On campus at SDSU, San Diego. Education and Experience Equivalent to a bachelor’s degree in a related field and two years of relevant experience. Relevant education and experience may be substituted on a year‑for‑year basis. Key Qualifications Experience working in higher education institutional research or assessment. Proficiency with statistical analysis, data visualization, and workforce analytics tools (SPSS, R, Python, Tableau, Lightcast). Familiarity with data security and compliance requirements such as FERPA and HIPAA. Strong attention to detail and accuracy. Experience supporting accreditation or grant reporting. Knowledge of career outcomes tracking, workforce development initiatives, or work‑based learning programs. Working knowledge of research methodologies, survey design, and higher education reporting conventions. Experience collecting, analyzing, and interpreting data to support planning and decision‑making. Strong written and verbal communication skills, including presenting findings to non‑technical audiences. Ability to work independently under general supervision. Compensation and Benefits San Diego State University offers competitive compensation and a comprehensive benefits package. Compensation Step placement determined by qualifications and experience. Step placement upon appointment is not expected to exceed Step 1 ($5,274). Salary range: $5,274–$7,684 per month (Step 1–20).
