At Lauterbach & Amen, we value our people and know that each employee is vital to our success.We are searching for a full-time senior accountant to join our Client Accounting & Advisory team and assist in servicing one of our sophisticated government clients in the Northern suburbs of the Chicago area. The anticipated, average salary range for this position is $80,000-$100,000, with the final offer determined based on business-related factors such as geographic location, relevant experience, education, skill set, and professional certifications. As part of our compensation philosophy, offers are typically not made at the top of the range to allow room for future growth and salary progression over time.Essential job duties:Prepare and maintain accurate financial records and general ledger accounts.Complete month-end and year-end closing activities, including journal entries, account reconciliations, and adjusting entries.Perform complex bank and investment account reconciliations, research and resolve discrepancies, and ensure the accuracy of all cash-related transactions.Prepare financial reports and assist in the preparation of the Annual Comprehensive Financial Report (ACFR) and other government reporting requirements.Assist with the preparation for the annual external audit, including compiling schedules, preparing supporting documentation, and responding to auditor requests.Monitor budgets and analyze revenues and expenditures.Assist with grant reporting, capital asset accounting, and other assigned accounting functions.Provide financial support and guidance to other departments and team members.Identify opportunities to improve accounting processes and operational efficiency.Perform other related duties as assigned.Position Qualifications:3-7 years of Government/Municipal accounting experience requiredBachelor's degree in AccountingCPA or actively pursuing a licenseAbility to manage multiple tasks and prioritize as neededStrong organizations skills and detail-orientedHighly motivated, self-starterEOE/M/F/D/V/SO
