Senior Accountant

Our client, a growing manufacturing and distribution company located in Park Ridge, IL, is seeking a highly motivated Senior Accountant to join its accounting team. This role will be responsible for supporting financial reporting, month-end close, account reconciliations, inventory accounting, and operational analysis. The ideal candidate will have a strong accounting foundation, experience within a manufacturing or distribution environment, and the ability to work collaboratively across departments. Key Responsibilities Lead and support the monthly, quarterly, and annual close processes. Prepare and review journal entries, account reconciliations, and supporting schedules. Ensure accuracy of the general ledger and compliance with GAAP. Assist with preparation of monthly financial statements and management reports. Analyze financial results, identify variances, and provide actionable insights to leadership. Support inventory accounting, cost accounting, and operational finance initiatives. Partner with operations, supply chain, and other business units to improve financial processes and reporting. Assist with budgeting, forecasting, and annual planning activities. Support external audits and ensure compliance with internal controls. Identify opportunities for process improvements and increased efficiencies within the accounting function. Participate in special projects and ad hoc analyses as needed. Qualifications Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance required. 3+ years of progressive accounting experience. Experience within a manufacturing or distribution environment required. Strong understanding of GAAP and financial reporting. Experience with month-end close, reconciliations, and financial statement preparation. Advanced Excel skills, including Pivot Tables and lookup functions. Experience with ERP systems such as SAP, NetSuite, JD Edwards, Microsoft Dynamics, Oracle, or similar. Strong analytical, organizational, and problem‑solving skills. Excellent communication skills and ability to partner with stakeholders across the business. Preferred Qualifications CPA or CPA candidate preferred. Public accounting experience is a plus. Experience with inventory, costing, and manufacturing operations. Continuous improvement mindset with strong attention to detail.
