Registered Nurse - PCU / Stepdown (Respiratory)

Contract (13 Weeks) | 12-Hour Mids (3:00 PM - 3:00 AM) | Expected 36 or 48 hours/week | Every 3rd weekend and every other holiday required

Key Responsibilities

• Provide specialized nursing care on a 26-bed step-down respiratory unit for patients with complex medical conditions including COPD, pneumonia, sepsis, pulmonary embolism, gastrointestinal bleeds, and those requiring ventilator support
• Manage continuous intravenous therapies for cardiac and renal conditions, including inotropic drips such as dobutamine, amiodarone, Cardizem, Lasix, and Bumex
• Perform tracheostomy care, chest tube management, PIV starts, and high-flow oxygen administration
• Maintain accurate and timely documentation using Cerner electronic health records
• Float to other stepdown units requiring the same level of care as needed
• Collaborate with an interdisciplinary team including hospitalists, respiratory therapists, charge RNs, PCTs, case managers, and social workers

Required Qualifications

• Valid Ohio RN license or active compact RN license
• AHA Basic Life Support (BLS) certification
• Valid driver's license
• Minimum 2 years of RN experience required
• Candidates residing within 30 miles of the facility may be subject to a reduced bill rate

Preferred Experience / Skills

• Prior experience in a PCU, stepdown, or respiratory unit setting
• Familiarity with Alaris IV pumps and Omnicell medication dispensing systems
• Experience with Philips patient monitoring equipment
• Comfort managing high-acuity respiratory and cardiac patient populations
