About the Role
The Company is seeking an Assistant Vice President and Chief Information Security Officer (CISO) to lead the development and enhancement of its information security program. The successful candidate will be a strategic and experienced leader, responsible for ensuring the protection of institutional information assets while fostering a culture of security that supports the company's mission of teaching, research, and service. This role is pivotal in the company's expansion and requires a proven leader who can build and mentor a modern security organization, position cybersecurity as an enabler of institutional success, and cultivate strong relationships across the community. The CISO will be a trusted partner, working closely with campus leaders, faculty researchers, IT professionals, and administrative partners to shape security practices that support innovation and collaboration. The ideal CISO for the company will be a collaborative and approachable individual, comfortable with recruiting and mentoring in a complex academic environment. They will be a strategic thinker, consensus builder, and will champion the understanding that information security is a shared institutional responsibility. Experience as a security strategist, organizational builder, and a deep understanding of the balance between security, research enablement, and institutional agility are essential. The role demands a leader who is aware of evolving threats, regulatory requirements, and industry best practices, and who can implement practical and sustainable security measures. Through clear communication and collaboration, the CISO will ensure that the community feels supported and empowered to protect sensitive information while advancing their work, particularly in the context of the company's ambitious research goals.
