Job Title: General Production Worker Job Description

The General Production Worker operates automated conveyor lines and testing equipment to build and assemble high-quality pumps. This role follows detailed work instructions, supports continuous production flow, and contributes to quality assurance and corrective actions to meet customer requirements in a modern manufacturing environment.

Responsibilities

• Follow written work instructions to operate all parts of the automated conveyor line and testing equipment to assemble pumps according to specifications.

• Learn and apply proper gauging techniques to inspect products as required and ensure they meet quality standards.

• Move materials and parts within the cell work area to support efficient workflow and replenish stock at workstations.

• Maintain accurate production, quality, and equipment documentation as required for daily operations and audits.

• Review and understand quality alerts, promptly reporting any issues or abnormalities to the team lead.

• Repair defective or rejected production parts on a daily basis to minimize scrap and support continuous improvement.

• Analyze product defects and actively participate in corrective action programs to prevent recurrence and improve processes.

• Work a consistent schedule of 8-hour or 10-hour shifts and be available to work up to 7 days per week as needed to support production demands.

• Safely operate and interact with various plant equipment, including hydraulic, pneumatic, electrical, welding, hand tools, and assembly machinery.

• Follow all safety guidelines, including the proper use of personal protective equipment, and maintain a clean and organized work area.

Essential Skills

• At least 2 years of recent experience in a manufacturing environment in roles such as production worker, machine operator, or assembler, with strong and consistent job tenure.

• Hands-on assembly experience in a manufacturing setting, including working with components and subassemblies.

• Ability to safely lift up to 40 pounds, including physically lifting pumps and placing them next to the workstation for stacking and shipping.

• Experience performing general labor tasks in a production environment.

• Ability to operate machines and equipment commonly used in manufacturing, including hydraulic, pneumatic, electrical, welding, and assembly machinery.

• Basic inspection skills to verify product quality using gauges and other measurement tools.

• Ability to follow detailed work instructions and standard operating procedures accurately.

• Attention to detail and ability to identify defects and quality issues in assembled products.

• Willingness and ability to work 7 days per week as required, and to work 8-hour or 10-hour shifts on first, second, or third shift.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

• Prior gauge experience for measuring and inspecting products is preferred.

• Comfort working with a variety of hand tools and production equipment.

• Experience in a high-volume automotive or industrial manufacturing environment is beneficial.

• Strong communication skills to report issues and collaborate on corrective actions.

• Reliability and commitment to maintaining good attendance and consistent performance.

Work Environment

The role is based in a newly renovated manufacturing plant in Warren that produces pump, valvetrain, transmission, and electric drive components and systems for major automotive customers. The facility features a variety of machines and technologies, including hydraulic, pneumatic, electrical, welding, hand tool, and assembly equipment. The work environment is fast-paced and production-focused, with strong emphasis on safety and quality. Shift options include 8-hour schedules (first shift: 7:00 AM – 3:30 PM, second shift: 3:00 PM – 11:30 PM, third shift: 11:00 PM – 7:30 AM) and 10-hour schedules (first shift: 5:00 AM – 3:30 PM, second shift: 3:00 PM – 1:30 AM). Team members wear appropriate personal protective equipment, including steel toe footwear, safety glasses, ear plugs, and gloves, and work in a structured, industrial environment designed to support efficient, high-volume production.

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Warren, MI.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $17.00 - $17.50/hr.
