Direct message the job poster from Pan Capital Director of Finance at Pan Capital Management LP Overview We are seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented Senior Accountant with a strong background in physical gas trading to join our finance team. This role will be pivotal in ensuring the accuracy, timeliness, and integrity of financial reporting related to gas trading activities. The ideal candidate will have deep knowledge of energy markets, physical commodity operations, and accounting practices specific to the oil & gas sector. Key Responsibilities Oversee monthly, quarterly and annual accounting close processes for physical gas trading activities, ensuring compliance with GAAP/IFRS and internal policies. Record, reconcile, and validate trading transactions, including purchases, sales, transportation, storage, and imbalance settlements. Collaborate with front, middle, and back-office teams to ensure accurate trade capture and valuation. Perform inventory accounting for gas in pipelines and storage facilities, including valuation adjustments and impairment testing. Manage hedge accounting entries and ensure proper linkage between physical positions and related derivatives. Prepare and review P&L reports, balance sheets, and variance analyses for trading desks and management. Liaise with external auditors and regulatory bodies, ensuring timely and accurate responses to information requests. Identify and implement process improvements to enhance accuracy, efficiency, and compliance in the accounting function. Qualifications Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field 5+ years of progressive accounting experience, with at least 3 years in the physical gas trading or energy commodities sector. Strong knowledge of energy trading lifecycle, from trade execution to settlement, and familiarity with RISE systems. Proficiency in GAAP/IFRS and understanding of regulatory requirements affecting energy markets. Advanced Excel skills; experience with ERP systems and commodity trading software. Excellent analytical skills and the ability to work under tight deadlines. Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to work cross-functionally in a fast-paced trading environment. Preferred Experience Exposure to North American natural gas markets, including pipeline tariffs, scheduling, and balancing. Understanding of risk management and mark-to-market accounting. Familiarity with FERC reporting and other industry-specific compliance requirements.
