SENIOR PSYCHOLOGIST, CORRECTIONAL FACILITY (SPECIALIST) - HIGH DESERT STATE PRISON

Position Overview Senior Psychologist, Correctional Facility (Specialist) – 20 hours per week – part‑time. Location: High Desert State Prison (HDSP), Susanville, CA, Lassen County. Monthly salary range: $5,685.00 – $7,317.00 . Location High Desert State Prison (HDSP) is situated approximately 96 miles west of Reno, NV, surrounded by the Sierra Nevada Mountains and near pristine lakes, rivers, hiking trails, and Lassen National Volcanic Park. Key Responsibilities Act as a clinical systems expert, providing psychological consultation related to the institution’s health care performance management programs and processes. Serve as advisor to institution executives and act as liaison with the Statewide Quality Officer, Quality Management Section staff, statewide executives in various disciplines, other institution Chief Quality Officers (CQO), and other stakeholder groups. Benefits Monthly salary range: $5,685.00 – $7,317.00 Recruitment and Retention Bonus: one‑time stipend of up to $10,000 and monthly differential up to $20,000 during the first year of employment, subject to eligibility criteria. Referral Bonus: eligible CCHCS or CDCR employees may receive a $5,000 referral bonus after 90 days of continued employment. Minimum Qualifications Valid license as a Psychologist issued by the California Board of Psychology. Earned Doctorate Degree in Psychology from an institution that meets Section 2914 of the Medical Board of California’s Business and Professions Code. Must obtain the California psychologist license within three years of appointment (or within a proportionate period for part‑time employment). Unlicensed applicants may be admitted provisionally for up to five years for full‑time or proportionate period for part‑time. Participation in the Senior Psychologist – CF (Spec) examination is required before applying. Experience One year of experience in the California state service performing duties as Psychologist Clinical, Correctional Facility, or Staff Psychologist (any specialty); or Two years of postdoctoral/post‑internship experience in psychological practice involving assessment, treatment, and training, research, consultation, or program planning in mental health services.
