TEACHER, CORRECTIONAL FACILITY

Location High Desert State Prison, Susanville, CA Salary $6,387.52 – $12,847.82 per month; new to State candidates hired at minimum salary of classification. Responsibilities Provide individual and group instruction in academic subjects to inmates. Develop lesson plans and meet curriculum standards. Conduct assessments and testing. Participate as member of interdisciplinary treatment team. Supervise conduct of students while in the classroom and may assume general custody responsibilities during emergencies. Maintain a valid teaching credential recognized by the CA Commission on Teacher Credentialing. Minimum Requirements Valid teaching credential recognized by the CA Commission on Teacher Credentialing. Experience teaching high school or elementary-level general education in a correctional setting preferred (refer to class specification). Special Requirements All applicants must undergo background investigation and live‑scan fingerprinting. Applicants new to CDCR must complete tuberculosis testing and annual re‑assessment.
