With over an 80+ year legacy of advancing science and a mission of innovating for a healthier world, our dedicated team collaborates closely with commercial, government, academic and healthcare customers to deliver our broad portfolio of analytical solutions, and OneSource services.Job TitleSenior Electronics Design Engineer – GC/LC (Woodbridge, CAN)Location(s)WoodbridgeJob DescriptionPurpose:Design and develop electronics for advanced scientific instrumentation systems (e.g., mass spectrometers), with a focus on low-noise analog performance, mixed-signal integration, and high-reliability operation.This role involves ownership of electronics across the full product lifecycle — from concept and design through validation, manufacturing, and sustaining — in a highly collaborative, cross-functional environment.Location: On site in Woodbridge, ONResponsibilitiesDesign and optimize low-noise analog and mixed-signal circuits for high-sensitivity measurement systems, including:Signal conditioning and analog front-end designGrounding, shielding, and noise mitigationADC/DAC interfacing and data acquisition chainsPerform design, simulation, and validation of analog, digital, and mixed-signal circuits, ensuring performance in low-level signal environments (µV–mV range)Lead or contribute to system-level design decisions, balancing performance, cost, manufacturability, and supply constraintsConduct design verification and validation (DVT), including lab testing, debugging, and root-cause analysis of complex hardware issuesSupport product sustaining activities, including:Component obsolescence managementDesign updates and engineering changesField issue investigation and resolutionCollaborate closely with scientists, mechanical engineers, firmware developers, manufacturing, and suppliers to deliver robust system solutionsDevelop and maintain technical documentation including design specifications, test procedures, and validation reportsContribute to the development of new technologies and architectures for next-generation instrumentation systemsBasic QualificationsBachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or closely related discipline (advanced degree considered an asset)Minimum 5+ years of experience in hardware design, preferably in instrumentation, medical devices, or scientific equipmentRequired Technical ExperienceStrong analog and mixed-signal design experience, particularly involving:Low-level signal acquisition (µV–mV range)High-impedance and low-noise circuitsAnalog/digital interfacing (ADC/DAC systems)Proven ability to design systems where sensitive analog signals coexist with digital electronics, including:Layout partitioning and grounding strategiesNoise mitigation and signal integrity techniquesHands-on experience with:PCB design (Altium, OrCAD, etc.)Circuit simulation tools (e.g., PSpice, LTspice)Lab debugging and measurement (oscilloscope, DMM, spectrum analyzer)Strong experience in troubleshooting PCBAs and system-level hardware issuesKnowledge of EMI/EMC design practices and compliance requirementsUnderstanding of manufacturing processes, DFM/DFT, and production supportKey CompetenciesStrong analytical and problem-solving skills, especially in ambiguous or complex situationsAbility to make engineering trade-offs considering performance, cost, risk, and timelineComfortable working in a hands-on lab environment for testing and debuggingEffective communication skills for collaboration across cross-functional teamsAbility to work independently while also contributing to team-based developmentThe annual compensation range for this full-time position is $80,000.00 CAD to $100,000.00 CAD.
