Schedule


Approximately 5-7 Shifts Per Month


24-Hour Call Shifts


Weekday and Weekend Coverage Required


Multiple Consecutive 24-Hour Shifts May Be Available Based on Coverage Needs


Provider May Remain Outside the Hospital When There Are No Acute Hospital Issues


Must Be Able to Return to the Hospital Within 20 Minutes While On Call

Pediatric Inpatient Unit

Patient Population / Volume


Newborn Nursery: Typically 4-10 Newborns


Pediatric Inpatient Census: Approximately 0-3 Patients


Level I Nursery With High-Risk Deliveries

Clinical Responsibilities


Provide Pediatric Hospitalist Coverage


Provide Newborn Nursery Coverage


Attend High-Risk Deliveries


Provide Emergency Department Pediatric Consultations


Manage Pediatric Inpatients


Resuscitate and Stabilize Critically Ill Newborns


Stabilize Newborns Pending Transport to a Higher-Level NICU


Provide 24-Hour Pediatric Call Coverage

Clinical Environment


1 Pediatric Physician


1 Obstetrics Physician and/or Midwife


CNA/CMA Support


24/7 Anesthesia Coverage by CRNA or Physician


No NP Coverage


Epic Templates and Order Sets Available


No Floating Required

Requirements


Board Certified in Pediatrics - Required


Board Eligible Candidates Will Not Be Accepted


Active New York Medical License in Hand - Required


NRP - Required


PALS - Required


BLS - Required


Life Support Certifications Must Be AHA or RQI


Epic Experience - Required


At Least 2 Years of Clinical Experience in Pediatrics - Required


Must Be Comfortable Resuscitating and Stabilizing Critically Ill Newborns


Residents and Fellows Will Not Be Accepted


Current and Complete Work History Required


No Unexplained Work History Gaps of 30 Days or More


Physician Statement Required for Any Malpractice History, Including Dismissed Cases
