About the Position
Harris Health System is seeking a PRN Physician to join the Correctional Health team . This role offers flexibility while providing the opportunity to deliver high-quality, patient-centered care to individuals housed in the Harris County Jail.
Responsibilities include performing intake health assessments , managing urgent and chronic conditions , and collaborating with advanced practice providers and interdisciplinary teams. You will work closely with Harris County Sheriff’s Office deputies , nursing staff, and on-site services such as radiology, pharmacy, laboratory, dental, and nutrition services.
This position requires strong clinical judgment, adaptability, and the ability to work both independently and collaboratively in a dynamic healthcare environment.

Requirements
Education :
Doctor of Medicine (MD) or Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine (DO)
Board Certified or Board-Eligible in Family Medicine, Internal Medicine, or Emergency Medicine
Must obtain and maintain board certification within required timeframe
Licensure :
Active Texas Medical Board license
Active DEA license
Experience :
Completion of an ACGME-accredited 3- or 4-year residency program
Clinical Skills :
Proficiency in suturing, splinting, and EKG interpretation
Strong clinical judgment and patient care skills
Communication Skills :
Above Average Verbal (heavy public contact)
Exceptional verbal communication (public speaking)
Strong written communication (correspondence and reports)
Technical Skills :
