Per Diem Nuclear Medicine TechnologistRAYUS Radiology is looking for a per diem Nuclear Medicine Technologist to join our team. As a per diem Nuclear Medicine Technologist, you will be responsible for performing patient imaging scanning procedures using sophisticated radiation-detecting instrumentation & preparing and administering radioactive chemical compounds, known as radiopharmaceuticals, to produce images of the patient's body for diagnostic purposes, within professional standards. This position is per diem, working shifts 8:30 am to 4:30 pm.Essential Duties And Responsibilities:(90%) Patient Nuclear Medicine ImagingScreen patients before exams for any precautions or contradictions pertaining to examination, using two patient identifiers to ensure the correct patient and corresponding procedureExplain and prepare patients for Nuclear Medicine imaging procedures that will be performed, explaining the procedure, and positioning patients so that parts of the body can be appropriately scannedPerform routine and advanced Nuclear Medicine imaging procedures on designated portions of the patient's body for use by physicians in the diagnosing and treating of patient illness and/or injury with minimal amount of supervision or repeat scans, while providing patient support by talking to patients throughout procedureAssess, prepare, record and administer radio pharmaceuticals according to Nuclear Regulatory Commission regulations and departmental policiesDemonstrate knowledge of safety-related work behaviors to ensure safe job performance and maintain a safe work environment, as an integral part of the quality of patient care servicesAdjust Nuclear Medicine scan parameters correctly and as needed, utilizing dose reduction techniques as appropriateMaintains positive attitude and working relationships with radiologist, referring customers, other team members, and peersFollows physicians' orders precisely and conforms to safety regulations to protect yourself, your patients, and coworkersAccurately maintain patient records within the Radiology Information System (RIS)Maintain an orderly and clean work area promoting good safety habits for patients and teammatesMaintain the American Radiology College (ACR) toolkit and accreditation requirementsMaintain all equipment in good working order; clean and disinfects equipment after each useEnsure compliance with all HIPAA guidelines at all times(5%) Nuclear Medicine Department SupportPerform and record daily quality control procedures, on specified equipment, to ensure correct and accurate operationPerform daily and weekly departmental surveys to ensure compliance with radiation standards of the department and Nuclear Medicine Regulatory CommissionImmediately reports contamination to the Radiation Safety OfficerAssist with maintaining an updated imaging protocol manual and software upgradesMonitor medical supply inventory and request supplies as necessaryAssist with the training of new team members, and function as a resource and technical expert, as applicable(5%) Completes other tasks as assignedRequired:Bachelor's degree in Nuclear Medicine Technology; may consider an associate's degree with applicable experience.Graduate of an American Medical Association (AMA) approved school of radiographyNuclear Medicine Technology Certification Board (NMTCB) Certification, in good standingLicensed Radiological Technologist in the appropriate state, if applicableCurrent Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) certificationMust have sufficient training and experience to competently perform Nuclear Medicine procedures independentlyCertification in imaging specialtyPreferred:BilingualRegistered/licensed in PET and/or PET/CTRAYUS is committed to delivering clinical excellence in communities across the U.S., driven by our passion for and superior service to referring providers and patients.
