Earn 25-35 Per Hour Operating Snow Removal Equipment This Winter

Home Grown Outdoor Finishes is an established landscaping, hardscaping, and commercial snow removal company serving residential and commercial customers throughout the Lancaster and Harrisburg region. Our reputation is built on dependable service, professional workmanship, and four core values: Responsiveness, Integrity, Quality, and Excellence.

We are seeking reliable, hardworking individuals to join our winter operations team as Snow Plow Operators .

This is a seasonal, hands-on opportunity for someone who is confident operating snow removal equipment, takes safety seriously, and understands the importance of keeping roads, parking lots, and properties accessible during winter storms.

Winter weather doesn't follow a regular schedule, and neither does snow removal. Our operators must be available when storms arrive, including overnight, early-morning, weekend, and holiday shifts.

If you have experience operating snowplows or other heavy equipment and are ready for seasonal work with a professional team, we encourage you to apply.

What You'll Be Responsible For

As a Snow Plow Operator, you will help maintain safe and accessible conditions at commercial and residential properties throughout our service area.

You will be responsible for operating snow removal equipment, following assigned routes, and completing work efficiently during challenging winter conditions.

Your responsibilities will include:

• Operating snowplows, salt spreaders, and other winter maintenance equipment
• Clearing snow from parking lots, roads, driveways, and designated access areas
• Providing snow removal services at commercial and residential properties
• Applying salt and other ice-control materials to help maintain safe driving and walking conditions
• Following assigned plowing routes and completing scheduled properties within required timeframes
• Conducting basic equipment inspections before and after each shift
• Identifying and reporting equipment issues or maintenance concerns
• Operating vehicles and machinery safely in snow, ice, and reduced-visibility conditions
• Communicating regularly with supervisors and other snow removal team members
• Using smartphone applications to document completed work, track hours, and submit required paperwork
• Following company safety procedures and maintaining professional standards at customer properties
• Remaining available for extended shifts during significant snowfall and winter weather events

Qualifications and Experience

We are looking for dependable operators who can work independently, follow instructions, and maintain high safety standards during demanding winter conditions.

What we're looking for:

• Valid driver's license with a clean driving record (required)
• Commercial Driver's License (CDL) preferred but not required
• Previous snowplowing experience preferred, ideally at least one year
• Experience operating heavy machinery or commercial equipment is an advantage
• Confidence operating vehicles and equipment in challenging winter conditions
• Ability to follow assigned routes and complete work within established timelines
• Comfortable using smartphone applications for communication, paperwork, and time tracking
• Strong attention to detail when completing job records and reporting hours
• Ability to conduct basic equipment checks and identify maintenance concerns
• Availability throughout the winter season, typically December through April
• Willingness to work overnight, early-morning, weekend, and holiday shifts
• Ability to respond to on-call assignments, including shifts beginning at 3:00 AM or earlier
• Physical ability to perform outdoor duties in freezing temperatures, snow, ice, and severe weather
• Ability to remain on duty throughout extended snow events when required
• Dependability, punctuality, and a professional approach to customer service

We particularly value individuals who take responsibility for their assigned routes, work safely under pressure, and understand the importance of timely snow removal services.

Compensation and Work Schedule

We offer competitive hourly compensation and the opportunity to earn additional income during winter weather events.

Pay and employment

• $25 - $35 per hour , depending on experience and equipment operating capabilities
• Part-time, temporary, seasonal employment
• Work opportunities determined by snowfall, ice conditions, and operational requirements
• Potential for extended shifts and overtime during major winter storms
• Field-based work at commercial and residential properties throughout our service area

Seasonal availability

• Snow removal season generally runs from December through April
• On-call availability is required 24 hours a day, seven days a week during the season
• Operators typically receive several days' advance notice of expected snow events when weather forecasts allow
• Shifts may begin at 3:00 AM or earlier and continue throughout the storm
• Work schedules may include weekdays, weekends, holidays, evenings, and overnight hours
• Extended shifts may be necessary during significant snowfall or prolonged winter weather
• Actual working hours depend on weather conditions and customer service requirements

Please note: This is a weather-dependent position rather than a fixed weekly schedule. Snow Plow Operators must be prepared to respond when winter storms occur and remain available until assigned snow removal duties are completed.
