Job Description

As a Runner, you will play an essential role in delivering the elevated dining experience that defines Delmonico Steakhouse. Working closely with Servers, Culinary, and the broader Food & Beverage team, you will ensure food is delivered with precision, timing, and attention to detail while maintaining the highest standards of luxury hospitality.

Responsibilities:

• Support Servers in delivering a seamless, polished, professional, and engaging dining experience consistent with Delmonico Steakhouse and Fairmont New Orleans standards
• Deliver food orders from the kitchen to guests promptly, accurately, and with careful attention to presentation, temperature, quality, and timing
• Verify food orders for accuracy, completeness, proper presentation, appropriate accompaniments, and special requests prior to delivery
• Demonstrate a strong understanding of the Delmonico Steakhouse menu, including premium cuts of beef, signature dishes, sauces, garnishes, ingredients, preparation methods, and daily offerings
• Maintain knowledge of food allergies, dietary restrictions, and ingredient information to confidently support guest and Server inquiries
• Understand and communicate steak temperatures, accompaniments, sauces, and other menu components when assisting with food delivery
• Demonstrate knowledge of the culinary philosophy behind Delmonico Steakhouse and Chef Emeril Lagasse's approach to elevated New Orleans cuisine
• Assist with food and beverage service while ensuring established steps of service and operational standards are consistently maintained
• Anticipate guest needs and provide attentive, thoughtful, and personalized service throughout the dining experience
• Respond promptly and professionally to guest requests and communicate questions or service concerns to the appropriate Server or leader
• Assist Servers with pre-bussing, clearing, resetting, and maintaining dining tables with precision and attention to detail
• Clear and safely transport dirty dishes, glassware, utensils, and other service items from dining areas to designated kitchen and stewarding locations
• Replace soiled linens and properly reset tables with silverware, glassware, napkins, and other service items according to Delmonico Steakhouse standards
• Assist with the proper presentation and placement of plates, flatware, condiments, sauces, and other accompaniments
• Maintain cleanliness, organization, and appropriate stock levels at expo lines, service stations, dining rooms, and designated back-of-house pathways throughout service
• Communicate effectively with Servers, Culinary, Stewarding, and other Food & Beverage colleagues to ensure smooth service flow and timely food delivery
• Work closely with the Culinary team to ensure proper communication of special requests, allergies, modifications, and timing requirements
• Assist with carrying trays, dishware, utensils, condiments, beverage items, and service equipment safely throughout operational areas
• Support the execution of a polished and coordinated service during high-volume periods while maintaining composure and attention to detail
• Assist with VIP dining experiences, special occasions, private events, and other elevated guest experiences as assigned
• Support restaurant, lounge, rooftop, banquet, and special event operations as operationally required
• Maintain familiarity with Fairmont New Orleans services, amenities, outlets, events, and local attractions to assist with guest inquiries
• Follow all food safety, sanitation, health, responsible alcohol service, and workplace safety policies and procedures
• Maintain a clean, professional, and polished appearance consistent with Fairmont New Orleans and Delmonico Steakhouse standards
• Assist with opening and closing duties, side work, stocking, cleaning, and other operational responsibilities as assigned
• Consistently demonstrate teamwork, professionalism, discretion, and a commitment to exceeding guest expectations
• Uphold the culinary and hospitality standards associated with Chef Emeril Lagasse, Delmonico Steakhouse, and Fairmont New Orleans
• Perform additional duties as assigned to support operational excellence

Qualifications

• Previous restaurant, food runner, server assistant, busperson, banquet, hospitality, or guest service experience preferred
• Previous experience in a luxury hotel, fine-dining, upscale restaurant, or high-volume steakhouse environment preferred
• Passion for food, beverage, hospitality, and creating exceptional guest experiences
• Interest in developing strong knowledge of fine dining, premium steakhouse cuisine, wine, and beverage service
• Strong communication, teamwork, and interpersonal skills
• Exceptional attention to detail and organizational abilities
• Ability to work efficiently and accurately in a fast-paced, high-volume environment
• Ability to remain calm, professional, and service-focused during busy periods
• Positive attitude with a genuine willingness to learn and grow within the organization
• Professional appearance and polished demeanor required
• Ability to follow instructions, service standards, and operational procedures consistently
• TIPS or responsible alcohol service certification preferred but not required
• Ability to work a flexible schedule, including mornings, evenings, weekends, holidays, late-night shifts, and extended shifts as operationally required
• Must be legally authorized to work in the United States
• Must possess or be able to obtain required Louisiana food safety certifications in accordance with applicable regulations
