Job Summary and Qualifications

Administers respiratory care to patients as ordered by the attending physician. Conducts diagnostic procedures to evaluate the need for, and response to, therapy.

2. Able to assess patient appropriately, interpret results accurately, and suggest alternative treatment.

3. Able to appropriately change modes of therapy.

4. Must be able to prioritize work assignments.

7. Documents by exception and communicates to physicians andnursesall pertinent information.

8. Involves patient and significant others in the care activities as a means of informing and teaching.

9. Activelyassiststhe physicians in the clinical management of patients.

10. Administers medications according to hospital policy.

11. Effectively and efficiently receives/interprets telephone and verbal orders and documents appropriately.

12. Demonstrates knowledge and ability to use necessary patient equipment.

13. Demonstrates ability to react calmly and effectively in an emergency situation.

16. Delegates appropriately to staff in keeping with job descriptions, licenses requirements and standards of practice.

21. Assists in interdepartmental service coordination.

22. Actively participates in the Performance Improvement and Utilization Review programs.

23. Assumes a role in the maintenance of the patient-focused care delivery system.

24. Assists staff in the coordination of unit operations.

25. Assists in all aspects of care in the environment, such as dietary, housekeeping, infection control, and supply and equipment management.

26. Attends 80% of in-services and departmental meetings.

27. Help provide staff to other areas of the hospital when needed.

• Basic Cardiac Life Support
