Position Overview

\n

KLB Construction is seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Project Engineer to join our team. This is a full-time, on-site position supporting heavy civil construction projects in the greater Bellevue/ Seattle metropolitan area, with an initial assignment near Bellevue, Washington.

\n

The Project Engineer plays an important role in the successful execution of construction projects, supporting both field and office operations from planning through completion. This position works closely with Project Managers, Superintendents, subcontractors, suppliers, and project stakeholders to coordinate construction activities, monitor project progress, maintain documentation, and help ensure projects are completed safely, efficiently, and on schedule.

Key Responsibilities

\n

Project Management & Coordination

\n

\n
• Support Project Managers and Superintendents in the daily planning, coordination, and execution of construction activities.
\n
• Assist in developing, updating, and monitoring project schedules.
\n
• Coordinate with subcontractors, suppliers, prime contractors, and project stakeholders.
\n
• Prepare and manage project correspondence, including communications with owners, prime contractors, and subcontractors.
\n
• Assist with material procurement and coordinate deliveries to support construction schedules.
\n
• Maintain organized and accurate project files, records, and documentation.
\n

\n

Cost Tracking & Project Controls

\n

\n
• Monitor project costs, budgets, and production quantities.
\n
• Track material quantities, completed work, and construction progress.
\n
• Prepare progress billings and subcontractor payment estimates.
\n
• Assist with cost reporting, quantity reconciliation, and project forecasting.
\n
• Support the preparation of estimates and budgets for new projects.
\n

Technical Documentation & Field Support

\n

\n
• Prepare, review, track, and transmit project submittals from KLB, subcontractors, and suppliers.
\n
• Maintain daily project diaries and accurate records of construction activities.
\n
• Assist with daily payroll reporting and submission to the main office.
\n
• Coordinate with field crews to monitor construction progress, identify potential issues, and support timely resolution.
\n
• Assist with field supervision and reinforce compliance with project safety requirements and KLB's safety standards.
\n
• Support quality control efforts and ensure construction activities align with project plans and specifications.
\n

Qualifications

\n

Education & Experience

\n

\n
• Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, Construction Engineering, or a related field; equivalent construction experience will also be considered.
\n
• Minimum of three years of heavy civil or heavy highway construction experience preferred.
\n
• Experience with transportation infrastructure, underground utilities, earthwork, or other heavy civil construction projects is desirable.
\n

Technical Knowledge & Skills

• Proficiency in Microsoft Office, including Excel, Word, and Outlook.
\n
• Familiarity with Bluebeam and construction scheduling software.
\n
• Understanding of construction documentation, recordkeeping, and project controls.
\n
• Working knowledge of construction plans, specifications, and basic estimating principles.
\n
• Strong mathematical, organizational, and analytical skills.
\n
• Ability to prepare accurate reports, maintain detailed records, and communicate technical information effectively.
\n

Additional Requirements

• Possession of, or ability to obtain, a valid Washington State driver's license.
\n
• Acceptable driving record and proof of automobile insurance.
\n
• Ability to travel to project sites throughout the greater Seattle metropolitan area as required.
