Senior Process Engineer

Senior Process Engineer role supporting commercial pharmaceutical manufacturing at AstraZeneca's Mount Vernon, Indiana facility. The position focuses on process technical support, continuous improvement, and lifecycle management of oral solid dose products across internal and external manufacturing sites.

Responsibilities

• Provide process engineering support to commercial products manufactured at AstraZeneca sites and external partners
• Plan and execute technical work packages in collaboration with manufacturing sites and cross-functional specialists
• Develop mechanistic explanations of process behavior using calculations, experimental evidence and manufacturing data
• Develop quantitative process descriptions including mass balances, energy balances and physics-informed models
• Support product transfers and process changes to enhance manufacturing robustness and supply reliability

Requirements

• B.S./M.S. in Chemical Engineering, Process Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Applied Mathematics, Physics, or related quantitative discipline
• Minimum three years relevant experience in process or chemical engineering
• Strong foundational knowledge of engineering and physical-science principles
• Quantitative data analysis skills with structured problem-solving approach
• Ability to plan and deliver technical work packages and collaborate cross-functionally
• PhD preferred; experience with mechanistic process modeling and quantitative expression of physical phenomena
• Familiarity with modeling tools such as Python, MATLAB, gPROMS, or DEM
