Licensed Practical NurseDuties include but are not limited to:Inform patients on specimen collection procedures to be performed. Reviews laboratory request orders to ensure all required information is present.Obtain blood samples by venipuncture; assures that proper specimens are obtained, and physiological properties and test requirements are maintained until actual testing procedure.Apply sterile dressing to site and instructs patients on care required to prevent infection and/or bruising.Prepare specimens for various automated urinalysis.Review laboratory request orders to ensure all required information is present.Communicate and interact appropriately and courteously with internal and external customers.Assure that patient safety is paramount in all aspects of patient care.Properly and accurately labels specimens, annotating time of collection, ensuring proper collection day and initialing all tubes collected.Integrate and apply pertinent aspects of the Outpatient Clinic performance improvement program into his/her professional practice.Integrate and apply aspects of the Joint Commission on Accreditation of Healthcare Organizations National Patient Safety Goals as applicable to their area of practice.Work Schedule: Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.Recruitment/Relocation Incentives (Sign-on Bonus): Not AuthorizedPermanent Change of Station (Relocation Assistance): Not AuthorizedPay: Competitive salary and regular salary increases. When setting pay, a higher step rate of the appropriate grade may be determined after consideration of higher or unique qualifications or special needs of the VA (Above Minimum Rate of the Grade).Paid Time Off: 37-50 days of annual paid time offer per year (13-26 days of annual leave, 13 days of sick leave, 11 paid Federal holidays per year).
