Registered Nurse – IMC / PCU / Stepdown (Mixed Acuity)

Contract (13 or 26 week options available) | Days, 3x12-hour shifts (7:00–19:30) | 36 or 48 hour per week options | Onsite

Key Responsibilities

• Provide direct patient care on a mixed acuity unit encompassing Medical Surgical, Telemetry, and Stepdown levels of care within a 48-bed neurological and neurosurgical specialty unit
• Care for a specialized patient population including strokes, aneurysms, seizures, spinal fusions, brain and spinal cord tumors, and other neurological conditions
• Manage patient ratios of 1:5 (MS/Tele days) and 1:3–4 (Stepdown days), adjusting as staffing needs require
• Administer and monitor IV drips as required across all floors
• Document all patient care accurately using EPIC electronic health records
• Float within scope to various units and campuses as needed to meet facility staffing requirements

Required Qualifications

• Active Registered Nurse (RN) license in Nebraska or pending Nebraska RN state license (if pending, placement will be scheduled six weeks out from submission)
• Minimum of 2 years of RN experience in a large, urban hospital setting
• Proficiency with EPIC electronic health records charting
• Demonstrated competency with IV drip administration and management
• Ability and willingness to float frequently to various units to meet facility staffing needs
• Must reside more than 100 miles from the facility (local candidates not accepted)

Preferred Experience / Skills

• Experience at a Level I Academic Medical Center (considered in lieu of travel experience for first-time travelers)
• Background in neurology, neurosurgery, or a related specialty area
• Familiarity with long-term EEG monitoring environments
