Reporting to the Nurse Manager, the Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) will assist the medical staff with the day-to-day operations of the medical clinic. The job includes preparing the exam rooms, keeping the exam rooms neat and clean, patient intake/vital signs, and patient education, collection and processing of lab specimens, as directed by the Nurse Manager. The job will also include maintaining effective patient flow and assuring all medical services are consistent with Georgia Wellness mission and philosophy, as well as the implementation and maintenance of Georgia Wellness policies and procedures. The successful candidate will be highly organized, be able to perform certain administrative and clinical duties under the direct supervision of the Nurse Manager, Staff Nurse, Patient Services Director and Physician and be certified and in good standing as a Certified Medical Assistant. The candidate must also be available to work one weeknight.

Responsibilities:

• Provide optimal care of Georgia Wellness patients prior, during and after being seen in the clinic
• Handles, obtains, and processes hazardous materials, including but not limited to urine and blood samples
• Implements and maintains effective patient flow utilizing paid and volunteer staff
• Implements best practices in clinic services and patient care
• Collaborates with non-medical staff to ensure clinic procedures follow community clinic and AAAHC regulations
• Assists with reviewing the Georgia Wellness patient EHR for accuracy, including scrutiny for errors
• Ensures daily and interim cleaning is completed
• Complete STD appointments including intake, collection and processing of specimens, patient education, review of lab results and patient notification as directed by Nurse Manager with permission of the Medical Director.
• Provide optimal care of Georgia Wellness patients prior to, during, and after being seen in the clinic
• Reviews and maintains the electronic patient files to ensure compliance with Georgia Wellness policies and procedures
• Maintains strict patient confidentiality under the guidelines of HIPAA
• Ensures understanding and compliance of Georgia Wellness policies and procedures by all students, staff, and volunteers, medical, and non-medical
• Works with Nurse Manager to maintain adequate medical supplies in the clinic, monitoring expiration dates of medication and sterile instruments.
• Assists with medical staff / volunteer training as needed
• Assist in appropriately coding for patient services, using the most updated codes and patient notes created by the RN, NP or MD
• Works with the Nurse Manager to appropriately communicate with third party organizations relating to the operations of the clinic and patient reporting
• Monitor patient text and assign medical questions to RN

Skills and Qualifications:

• Required - Medical Assistant Certification, 2-4 years clinical experience
• Current CPR certification
• Demonstrate a genuine and active Christian faith, evidenced by a commitment to Biblical values, including the value of human life, sexual integrity, unity within the Body of Christ, and partnership with other believers in Christ-centered ministry.
• Prior OB/GYN office experience or Pediatric office experience preferred
• Basic knowledge of medical insurance, exposure control, and HIPAA compliance
• Spanish-speaking preferred
  

Salary & Benefit Information:

Compensation will be based on experience and skill set. GWG participates in a QSEHRA plan providing nontaxable funds in the amount of $250/mo towards medical expenses. GWG provides a competitive PTO schedule.
