Description

American Traveler is hiring a Labor & Delivery RN for a high-risk perinatal unit requiring 2+ years of L&D experience and AWHONN/fetal monitoring certification.

Details

• Level III high-risk perinatal unit with 19 L&D beds, 10 antepartum beds, and 30 postpartum beds
• Facility performs 200-300 deliveries per month
• Unit includes 3 ORs, 2 PACU bays, and a 7-bay triage area
• Staffing goals include 1:1 in labor, 1:3 couplet care in postpartum with CNA support, and 1:2-3 in antepartum
• Night shift schedule, 3x12-hour shifts from 19:00 to 7:30
• Weekend shifts required
• Floating to Postpartum required
• No on-call responsibilities
• EPIC charting system used

Requirements

• Active WA or compact RN license required
• Minimum 2 years of Labor & Delivery experience required, following AWHONN standards
• BLS, ACLS, and NRP certifications required
• AWHONN Intermediate or Relias Fetal Monitoring certification required (AWHONN Advanced preferred)
• Sterile vaginal exam (SVE) competency required
• Experience with high-risk delivery, vaginal delivery, and C-section circulation required
• Experience managing magnesium sulfate therapy, pitocin, and antihypertensives required
• Epic EMR experience required
• Experience in facilities with 200+ deliveries preferred, though candidates with 100-200 delivery experience will be considered
• Two supervisory references covering 1 year of employment within the last 3 years required

Additional Information

• Provide comprehensive nursing care across labor, antepartum, and postpartum units within a Level II Trauma Center
• Support high-risk pregnancy care including pre-eclampsia, HELLP syndrome, PROM, and preterm labor management
• Assist with neonatal care in the delivery room including APGAR scoring and neonatal resuscitation
• Collaborate with a care team including surgical techs, CNAs, CRNAs, delivering providers, and health unit coordinators available 24/7
• Scrubs of any color permitted except reddish orange
• Parking is facility paid
• First-time travelers are welcome to apply
• Must commit to working 3 of the 5 major holidays (Thanksgiving, Christmas Eve, Christmas Day, New Year's Eve, New Year's Day)
• All RTO requests must be submitted upfront at time of application
• Local candidates are not accepted
• Candidates must live outside a 50-mile radius of the facility
• Former permanent employees may return as travelers after a 3-month waiting period
• Travelers may be required to float between sister facilities within the region
