Description

American Traveler is hiring a Med/Surg Ortho/Neuro RN requiring 2 years of experience and an active SC or compact RN license.

Details

• Work in the Medical Surgical unit of a hospital setting, focusing on Ortho/Neuro patients
• Patient ratios of 1:6-7
• Day shift schedule, 3x12 hours, 7a-7p
• Every other weekend requirement, including at least Saturday and Sunday
• No standing on-call requirement, but may be placed on 8-hour call if scheduled shift is affected by census
• Floating within scope required to meet facility needs, including between like units or sister facilities
• Uses Epic EMR

Requirements

• Active SC RN license or compact license required in hand prior to start
• BLS certification required; ACLS preferred
• 2 years of Med/Surg nursing experience preferred
• Epic EMR experience required
• Ortho/Neuro clinical experience preferred, including CVA, pre/post neurosurgery, spinal cord injury, and traumatic brain injury care
• Experience with IV therapy, phlebotomy, central line and PICC line management preferred
• Experience with tracheostomy care, high flow nasal cannula, and oxygen administration preferred
• Experience with wound care/wound vac and isolation precautions/PPE
• Experience with total joint replacement and ortho trauma preferred
• Teaching hospital, community hospital, and Trauma Level II experience preferred
• SSN and driver's license required for consideration

Additional Information

• Provide direct patient care to Med/Surg patients with a focus on orthopedic and neurological cases
• Participate in cardiac monitoring and emergency response, including use of rapid response/code teams
• Royal blue scrub color required
• Free parking available onsite
• First-time travelers will be considered on an individual basis depending on experience
• Previous perm or PRN staff must be separated from the health system for 1 year before returning as a traveler
• Local candidates within 60 miles are not accepted; radius rule of 60 miles applies for eligibility
• Block scheduling requests may be submitted for approval but are not guaranteed
• All requested time off must be submitted in advance and is subject to facility approval
• Facility may cancel up to 1 shift per 2 weeks based on census
• Employees and contractors may be assigned to emergency response teams during hurricane season (June through November, with peak activity in August and September)
