RN Labor Delivery Recovery Postpartum Nurse

Job Summary:

The Registered Nurse (RN) for the Family Birthing Center provides skilled nursing care throughout the labor, delivery, and postpartum phases, including care for neonates. The RN independently assesses and evaluates patient health status, develops and implements care plans, educates and supports mothers on wellness and infant care, collaborates with healthcare team members, and maintains a safe and effective care environment. This role requires strong clinical skills, patient advocacy, and documentation expertise, with a minimum of two years of nursing experience. Responsibilities:

• Provide direct patient care and monitor responses during labor, delivery, and postpartum phases.
• Assist and educate mothers in breastfeeding and infant care.
• Promote maternal wellness through continuous education during pregnancy and after delivery.
• Document patient care events and education accurately in medical records using electronic systems.
• Communicate patient conditions verbally and in writing to physicians and nursing supervisors.
• Collaborate with nursery nurses to coordinate care for mother and baby couplets.
• Assist physicians with procedures as needed.
• Support nurse manager and assist staff with emergencies across nursing units when possible.
• Maintain a clean, orderly, and safe environment within the Family Birthing Center unit.
• Assist other Family Birthing Center staff in skill maintenance and learning new procedures and equipment.

Required Skills & Certifications:

• Active Registered Nurse license in the State of Colorado.
• Minimum of an Associate's Degree in Nursing (ADN) from an accredited program.
• At least two years of nursing experience.
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
• Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) certification.
• Strong clinical assessment, patient education, and care planning skills.
• Excellent communication and collaboration abilities.
• Ability to lift and move up to 50 pounds and perform physical activities such as standing, stooping, kneeling, and reaching.

Preferred Skills & Certifications:

• Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certification.
• Experience in labor and delivery or neonatal nursing.
• Bachelor's degree in Nursing or related field.

Special Considerations:

• Must be able to work in a fast-paced, specialized environment requiring critical thinking and rapid intervention.
• Physical demands include frequent standing, walking, and manual handling of patients and equipment.
• Ability to work collaboratively with interdisciplinary teams and respond to emergencies.

Scheduling:

• Night shift position in the Family Birthing Center and Level 1 Nursery Unit.
• Shift assignments are based on unit needs and may require flexibility.
