Staff Accountant - CPG/Manufacturing

Our client, a well-known fashion brand based in Westwood, NJ, is looking for an experienced Staff Accountant. This is a FTE role, and the successful candidate will have 4+ years of accounting experience in the consumer goods or manufacturing industry.

This role is 3 days per week in office, with 2 days from home, and offers an individual with 4+ years of accounting experience in the consumer goods or manufacturing industry, a chance to join a collaborative department at a well-established fashion brand.


Description

This role will involve you to:
• Post journal entries, allocations, and accruals.
• Maintain the general ledger and ensure proper classification of transactions.
• Analyze general ledger activity and prepare balance sheet reconciliations (prepaid expenses, fixed assets, AR, accrued expenses).
• Process inter-company invoices and reconciliations.
• Maintain fixed asset schedules and calculate depreciation.
• Reconcile monthly credit card accounts.
• Prepare and file multi-state sales tax returns.
• Analyze expense accounts and support monthly close.
• Identify opportunities to streamline processes, strengthen internal controls, and shorten the close cycle.
• Assist with external audits and ad-hoc projects.

Profile

The successful candidate will have:
• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field
• 4-6 years of accounting experience, preferably in retail or multi-entity environments
• Solid GAAP knowledge and strong General Ledger accounting skills
• Familiarity with multi-state sales tax filings
• Proficiency in Excel
• SAP Experience preferred
• Detail-oriented, analytical, and eager to take ownership
