Job Title: CNC Machinist Job Description

This role offers the opportunity to work as a CNC Machinist on either day or overnight shifts, producing precision components for the aerospace and medical industries. You will perform complex setups, operate and troubleshoot CNC mills and lathes, hold extremely tight tolerances, and inspect finished parts to ensure the highest quality standards. The position requires a versatile professional who is comfortable wearing many hats, collaborating closely with engineering, and adapting to changing customer demands.

• Set up and operate CNC mills or lathes to produce small to medium-sized aerospace and medical components.
• Perform complex machining operations, including light program edits and zeroing out machines as needed.
• Run production while holding very tight tolerances, including tolerances in the range of thousandths of an inch.
• Troubleshoot CNC machinery to identify and resolve issues that impact quality or productivity.
• Work with materials such as aluminum and stainless steel, ensuring proper machining practices and finishes.
• Use precision measuring tools such as micrometers and calipers to inspect parts and verify dimensional accuracy.
• Perform in-process and final inspections on all products to ensure they meet specifications and quality standards.
• Complete required paperwork accurately and in a timely manner to document production, inspections, and any nonconformances.
• Maintain safety regulations by following all shop safety procedures and reporting unsafe conditions.
• Report defective materials, processes, or equipment and assist in implementing corrective actions.
• Collaborate consistently with the engineering team to clarify requirements, resolve technical issues, and improve processes.
• Adapt to changing customer demands by adjusting setups, processes, and priorities as needed.
• Support a clean, organized, and efficient work area in alignment with the facilitys standards.
• Wear multiple hats within the facility by assisting with related tasks as needed to support production and workflow.

• Minimum of 2+ years of experience running and setting up CNC mills or lathes.
• Proven experience holding very tight tolerances, including tolerances of +/- thousandths of an inch.
• Hands-on experience troubleshooting CNC machinery in a production environment.
• Ability to perform setups and make light program edits on CNC equipment.
• Experience zeroing out a CNC machine and verifying proper machine offsets.
• Proficiency working with aluminum and stainless steel materials.
• Strong inspection skills using micrometers, calipers, and other precision measuring instruments.
• Ability to read and interpret technical information related to machining processes and part requirements.
• Consistent communication skills to collaborate effectively with engineering and production teams.
• Eligibility to work under ITAR requirements as a US citizen.

• Experience with Swiss CNC machinery is a significant plus.
• Background in machining parts for aerospace, medical, or robotics applications.
• Comfort working on very complex machining work and handling multiple responsibilities.
• Ability to adjust quickly to changing customer demands and production priorities.
• Experience working in a larger CNC shop environment with multiple machines and teams.
• Strong attention to detail and commitment to producing high-quality, precise components.

The facility is one of the more extensive and versatile CNC shops in Western Massachusetts, supporting a wide range of aerospace, medical, and robotics projects. The work environment is extremely clean and well lit, designed to support precision machining and careful inspection. Some shop areas are louder due to active production, while other areas remain relatively quiet, allowing focus on detailed tasks. CNC mills, lathes, and Swiss machinery are used throughout the shop, along with precision measuring tools such as micrometers and calipers. Day shift runs from 6:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., Monday through Friday, and overnight shift runs from 5:00 p.m. to 6:00 a.m., Monday through Thursday, providing structured schedules for different preferences.

This is a Permanent position based out of Agawam, MA.

The pay range for this position is $25.00 - $33.00/hr.

Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
