Tenure Track Associate/Full Professor: Division Director of Rheumatic and Autoimmune Diseases

Position Summary The University of Minnesota Department of Medicine seeks a dynamic and visionary leader to serve as the Division Director of the Division of Rheumatic and Autoimmune Diseases, driving clinical, research, and educational excellence. Key Responsibilities Leadership and Administration: Provide strategic leadership, oversee clinical, research, and educational activities, enact expansion plans, manage budget, resources, and personnel, recruit and mentor faculty, and represent the division within the institution and broader medical community. Clinical Care: Maintain a clinical rheumatology practice, collaborate with the Service Line on clinical operations, and promote high‑quality, patient‑centered care. Research: Promote and support basic, translational, and clinical research, maintain an active research program, facilitate faculty research support, and foster interdisciplinary collaborations. Education: Support the Rheumatology Fellowship Program, develop innovative educational programs, and promote faculty development in teaching and mentorship. Quality Improvement: Promote continuous improvement, patient safety, and innovation, and ensure compliance with regulatory and accreditation standards. Required Qualifications Medical degree (MD, DO) and board certification in Rheumatology. Eligibility for medical licensure in Minnesota. Appointment at the rank of Associate Professor or Professor of Medicine per U.Minnesota Medical School criteria. Demonstrated leadership and administrative experience. Strong record of clinical excellence and international reputation for scholarly activity. Proven ability to secure extramural funding for research. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills. Commitment to inclusive excellence. Preferred Qualifications Advanced degree (PhD, MPH). Expertise in human immunology and autoimmune disease research. International recognition in rheumatic and autoimmune diseases. Experience in clinical service line strategy. History of successful mentorship of junior faculty. Division Overview The Division of Rheumatic and Autoimmune Diseases includes eleven faculty across rank levels, focuses on connective tissue diseases, holds four NIH grants totaling over $5million, and supports a robust clinical practice in complex autoimmune conditions. Benefits and Compensation Dual employment by University of Minnesota Physicians and the University of Minnesota. Salary ranges from $234,000 to $270,000, commensurate with experience, plus incentive pay.
