Registered Nurse - PACU

Job Description

Job Summary:
The registered nurse in the PACU provides specialized peri-anesthesia care to patients recovering from anesthesia, ensuring safety, stability, and comfort during post-operative recovery. This role involves collaborating with the healthcare team to monitor, assess, and manage patient conditions from admission through discharge.

Responsibilities:

• Assess patients' vital signs and overall condition upon arrival and throughout recovery.
• Implement peri-anesthesia standards of care, including airway management and pharmacology protocols.
• Administer medications with attention to doses, interactions, side effects, and reactions.
• Respond promptly to patient needs and adverse events, providing appropriate interventions.
• Document patient progress, treatments, and responses accurately in electronic health records.
• Communicate effectively with surgical teams, anesthesiologists, and families regarding patient status and care plans.

Qualifications:

• Hold a valid CA RN license, uploaded via Nursys within the last 2 weeks.
• BLS (AHA) and ACLS certifications, with expiration dates current.
• PALS certification preferred.
• Minimum of 2 years PACU RN experience in a high-acute care hospital or ICU setting.
• Extensive cardiac/cath lab experience preferred.
• Ability to work 4x10 hour day shifts, with no weekends, and float to other campuses as needed.
