GENERAL MANAGER/CHIEF OPERATING OFFICER – POSITION OVERVIEW

The General Manager/Chief Operating Officer (GM/COO) serves as the Club’s senior operating executive, responsible for leading and overseeing all day-to-day operations. Working in close partnership with the Board of Directors, the GM/COO establishes and advances short- and long-term organizational goals, strategic priorities, operating plans, and policies that support the Club’s vision and long-term success.

The GM/COO is accountable for the Club’s overall operational and financial performance, ensuring resources are managed effectively and consistently aligned with membership expectations and the Board’s direction. This individual translates the Board’s vision into action and establishes a culture of accountability, collaboration, service excellence, and continuous improvement throughout the organization.

A key responsibility of the GM/COO is to evaluate the current team and their roles and, moving forward as needed, recruit, develop, mentor, and retain a talented leadership team and staff while providing effective oversight of all workforce matters. The GM/COO will ensure the Club maintains exceptional standards across its facilities, safety practices, services, programs, and social and recreational offerings, delivering a consistently high-quality experience for members and guests. The Board will value a comprehensive evaluation of all SOPs, or the creation of appropriate operating standards where needed, and documentation. Additionally, establishing KPI metrics to evaluate the club’s progress is a necessary priority.

INITIAL PRIORITIES OF THE NEW GENERAL MANAGER/CHIEF OPERATING OFFICER

• Provide comprehensive oversight of the Club’s financial performance, maintaining accountability for operating results, budget discipline, and the timely and accurate reporting of financial performance to the Finance Committee and Board of Directors.
• Serve as the primary liaison between the Board of Directors and Club management, translating Board-established policies, strategic priorities, and long-term objectives into effective operational execution.
• Lead the Club’s day-to-day operations with appropriate autonomy and accountability, providing clear direction to department heads and fostering collaboration, consistency, and high performance across all areas of the organization.
• Protect and enhance the Club’s reputation through the highest standards of professionalism, integrity, service, and operational excellence.
• Foster a welcoming, inclusive, and service-oriented culture that values all team members, while maintaining a highly visible, approachable, and engaging presence with members and employees.

• A minimum of 5 years of progressive leadership/management experience in an active, family-oriented, private member-owned club environment or the hospitality industry is desired.
