Summary The Quality Manager is responsible for ensuring the quality of products and processes at a specific location. This position provides work direction for Quality Control Technicians, team leaders and employees, and establishes, monitors and continuously improves the quality control system. This position interacts regularly with engineering, manufacturing and service functions to establish quality standards for raw material, work in process and finished products. The ideal candidate is an organized, analytical, problem‑solver with the ability to prioritize and delegate tasks to ensure that daily operations are running effectively and efficiently. The candidate will also work with teams at the point of operation as needed, as this is a “hands on” manager role. Key Responsibilities Leading a team of Quality Engineers and technicians. Maintaining and continuously improving the Quality Management System, ensuring the system follows ISO 9001 guidelines. Monitoring quality trends and communicating opportunities for improvement. Assuring product quality at the plant for both incoming and outgoing material. Implementing corrective action methods for internal and external customer issues. Facilitating advanced product quality planning (APQP). Continuously improving the quality system to provide internal and external customers with products or services that meet or exceed requirements. Serving as the primary external customer contact for quality‑related concerns. Responsible for orienting, training, coaching, evaluating, and disciplining department employees. Planning and reviewing compensation actions; enforcing policies and procedures. Strong problem‑solving capabilities using problem‑solving tools. Serving as Management Representative for ISO 9001. Meeting quality assurance financial objectives, including key Cost of Quality metrics. Overseeing the corrective and preventive action system. Compiling quality‑related data for the Monthly Operating Review report. Developing and tracking QOS performance based on agreed metrics; developing and implementing action plans to achieve targets. Monitoring the suitability and effectiveness of audit programs, including internal, process, and product audits. Key Skills & Competencies Highly motivated to lead and not afraid to get hands dirty. Strong formal written and verbal communication skills necessary for business presentations to both internal audiences and customers/suppliers. Ability to meet deadlines and be a self‑starter. Knowledge of various computer software programs including Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, etc.). Highly organized; effective planner and leader. Ability to travel domestically to external customers for scheduled goodwill visits and for unscheduled quality concerns. Education & Experience Requirements Bachelor’s degree is preferred but not required. Experience in metal forming, welding and paint is highly desired. Minimum 3–5 years of quality management experience and at least 5 years of experience working in a manufacturing environment. Experience in developing processes and systems for product quality assurance. Working Conditions / Other Travel requirements: domestic travel to external customers for scheduled goodwill visits and for unscheduled quality concerns. Maintains up‑to‑date knowledge of federal and state employment law, compliance, trends, new technologies and best practices in areas of responsibility.
