Assistant General Manager - Miami, Must be authorized to work in the U.S. (Hospitality)

The Assistant General Manager is a key member of the hotel's leadership team and works closely with the General Manager to oversee the successful day-to-day operation of the hotel. This position provides hands-on leadership and support across Front Desk, Housekeeping, Breakfast, Laundry, and other hotel operations as needed.

The Assistant General Manager will help ensure consistent service, strong team performance, operational efficiency, guest satisfaction, and compliance with company and brand standards.

Bilingual English/Spanish is preferred.

Key Responsibilities

• Partner with the General Manager in overseeing the daily operations of the hotel and ensuring all departments operate efficiently and in accordance with company and brand standards.
• Lead and support Front Desk operations, ensuring excellent guest service, accurate procedures, and effective communication.
• Provide leadership and operational support to Housekeeping, Breakfast, Laundry, Public Areas, and other departments as needed.
• Monitor daily hotel operations, identify issues, and take appropriate action to maintain a smooth and efficient operation.
• Conduct regular inspections of guest rooms, public areas, and back-of-house areas to ensure cleanliness, presentation, and brand standards are consistently maintained.
• Drive guest satisfaction by addressing guest concerns, handling service recovery situations, and ensuring timely resolution of issues.
• Recruit, interview, onboard, train, coach, and develop team members in partnership with the General Manager and department leaders.
• Assist with scheduling, staffing levels, attendance, productivity, and performance management.
• Hold team members accountable for company policies, operational procedures, service standards, and job responsibilities.
• Monitor labor costs, productivity, payroll, inventories, purchasing, and other operational expenses.
• Assist with payroll review and ensure timekeeping and staffing information is accurate.
• Maintain appropriate inventory levels and assist with ordering supplies and controlling operational costs.
• Ensure compliance with hotel policies, safety procedures, OSHA requirements, and applicable company and brand standards.
• Monitor hotel systems, operational reports, and key performance indicators, and communicate important findings to the General Manager.
• Follow up on maintenance, housekeeping, guest service, and operational issues to ensure they are resolved promptly.
• Maintain strong communication between departments and promote a collaborative, professional, and service-focused work environment.
• Assist the General Manager with special projects, operational initiatives, and other responsibilities as assigned.
• Act as the leader on duty and assume overall operational responsibility in the absence of the General Manager when needed.

• Front Office experience strongly preferred.
• Branded hotel experience preferred; IHG experience is a plus.

Qualifications & Physical Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent required; associate or bachelor's degree in Hospitality, Business, or a related field preferred.
• Minimum 2–3 years of hotel leadership or supervisory experience required.
• Previous Front Office experience strongly preferred.
• Experience in a branded hotel environment preferred.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office and hotel operating systems preferred.
• Must be available to work a flexible schedule, including weekends, holidays, and varied shifts based on business needs.
• Ability to stand and walk for extended periods and regularly bend, reach, lift, and move throughout the hotel. xhyhwjd

Compensation

Salary: $75,000 per year
