Key Qualifications:

• Active South Carolina VI teaching certification required
• Experience teaching students who are visually impaired or blind is a must
• Skilled in developing and adapting accessible instructional materials and technology
• Strong communication and collaboration abilities, working effectively with students, staff, and families
• Commitment to fostering an inclusive and supportive learning environment

Primary Responsibilities:

• Provide specialized instruction and support for VI students 3-4 days per week, averaging 22.5-30 hours weekly
• Develop and implement Individualized Education Programs (IEPs) in collaboration with multidisciplinary teams
• Adapt curriculum and teaching strategies to meet each student’s strengths and needs
• Conduct ongoing assessments to monitor student progress and adjust interventions as necessary
• Serve as an advocate and resource for accessibility, ensuring students have the tools and accommodations they require in the classroom
