For more information, visit Background The WBG Gender Department, within the WBG People Vice Presidency, and its two main units (Policy & Regulations and Solutions & Impact) drive action and impact in accelerating gender equality. It defines the strategic direction to deliver the WBG Gender Strategy 2024-30 and Targets through the knowledge agenda, operational approaches, and partnerships, collaborating across the WBG Gender Network, Verticals, Horizontals, Regions, and Industries to deliver innovative solutions for clients. The department curates, generates, and disseminates knowledge, evidence and learning for policy and solutions to accelerate gender equality. The Umbrella Facility for Gender Equality (UFGE) is hosted in the department and is the World Bank Group’s multi-donor trust fund for knowledge, evidence and data to help governments and the private sector invest in policies and programs. The UFGE operates in a multi-year framework and shares its knowledge and data with policymakers, development partners, and researchers. Duties And Accountabilities The Operations Officer will report to the Gender Department Manager, Policy and Regulations, and the UFGE Program Manager. Responsibilities include operational, project, research, statistical, and analytical support, including: Lead the annual UFGE reporting process and semi-annual updates with high-quality data from UFGE implementing teams, including guidance on reporting and program effectiveness. Lead the aggregation, analysis, and reporting of results to the UFGE Partnership Council, Gender Leadership Council, the UFGE Annual Report, the UFGE results dashboard, and ad hoc reports. Support reporting systems including the results and risk frameworks, the results database, the UFGE dashboard, and other data capture and visualization mechanisms. Lead UFGE learning efforts to share experiences across the UFGE grantee network and with stakeholders to improve design and implementation of innovative approaches (learning sessions, case studies, site visits, and other knowledge-sharing modalities). Coordinate with implementing teams and stakeholders to identify opportunities for collaboration and impact; identify experiences in the UFGE portfolio and build consensus for sharing lessons. Support UFGE Programs including the Gender Strategy Fast-Track Country Initiative to foster a community of practice for learning and dissemination of results. Provide other ad hoc support to the UFGE Secretariat and the Gender Department as required. Selection Criteria Master’s degree in economics, finance, business, or a related field relevant to the World Bank Group’s mission. At least 5 years of relevant professional experience in the relevant field. Experience in managing relations with a wide range of stakeholders (governments, international organizations, multilateral and bilateral development agencies). Ability to address issues related to women’s economic empowerment and gender equality and its relationship to economic development; strong analytical skills. Familiarity with gender-focused activities supported by UFGE, including knowledge and evidence, policy interventions in public and private sectors, technical assistance and research; ability to think strategically and analyze diverse information. Familiarity with World Bank Group trust fund policies, procedures, and practices. Experience with trust fund donor relations and reporting; monitoring and evaluation and results framework; World Bank Group trust fund systems including the trust fund portal and fundraising portal. Strong operations experience in preparation of World Bank Group grants and understanding of operational processes, procedures, and corporate requirements. Demonstrates initiative, ownership, accountability, ability to meet deadlines, work under pressure, and balance competing demands to achieve results. Strong political awareness and the ability to diplomatically handle sensitive situations and cultivate productive client relationships. Excellent oral and written communication and editing skills; strong command of English; knowledge of other languages (French and Spanish) is a plus. Ability to work in multi-cultural environments and build effective working relationships with clients and colleagues.
