What You’ll Do At DBH Responsible for directing all activities of a comprehensive law enforcement and security program within a behavioral healthcare setting. Ensures the safety of patients, staff, visitors, and property through effective leadership, policy implementation, and compliance with applicable laws and regulations. Key Responsibilities Direct all operations of the law enforcement and security programs to maintain a safe and secure environment. Develop and implement operating procedures that support organizational goals and legal requirements. Enforce and interpret policies, laws, rules, and regulations relevant to law enforcement and healthcare security. Review and screen departmental expenditures to ensure fiscal responsibility. Supervise Police Department personnel, including assigning duties, evaluating performance, and ensuring adherence to standards. Provide training and professional development to department staff. Safeguard property, criminal evidence, and contraband; manage storage and disposal processes in accordance with law. Conduct and oversee investigations related to security incidents, policy violations, and criminal activity. Establish and maintain collaborative working relationships with internal departments, external agencies, and community partners. Attend organizational meetings and represent the Police Department in administrative discussions and operational planning. This is an hourly position and is exempt from the bargaining units, with a pay range of 13 on the E1 Exempt Pay Range Schedule . Normal working hours are Monday through Friday, 8:00am to 4:30pm (Flexible Schedule). Unless required by any applicable union contract and/or requirements of the Ohio Revised Code, the selected candidate will begin at Step 1 of the pay range schedule listed above, with an opportunity for pay increase after six months of satisfactory performance and then a yearly raise thereafter. Additional Salary / Appointment Information Employees who complete five years of total service with the State of Ohio receive an automatic 2.5% supplement based on their classification salary base. For each additional year of qualified service, they receive an extra 0.5% supplement increase annually, continuing until they reach the maximum 10% longevity supplement, which occurs at 20 years of service. Position Qualifications Completion of 20 yrs. active duty as peace officer per Section 109.78(D) of revised code; 12 mos. training &/or experience in supervisory principles & techniques; valid driver’s license. OR Requires possession of certificate of having successfully completed approved peace officer training program; 12 mos. training &/or experience in supervisory principles & techniques; valid driver’s license.
