divh2Phlebotomist/h2pCabinet Peaks Medical Center is looking for a full time Phlebotomist to join our Laboratory Department!/ppUnder the general supervision of the Laboratory Manager or Lead Phlebotomist the Phlebotomist assumes the responsibility for performing venipuncture and related procedures under the philosophy, policies and procedures established by the hospital and department./ppMajor Job Duties Responsibilities/pulliPerform venipuncture and capillary blood collection on neonates through geriatric populations./liliProficient in the collection of all types of culture as well as able to instruct patients on the safe and correct collection technique in accordance with department policies and guidelines./liliAccurately orders and cancels tests in the Meditech LIS system. Ensures correct patient identification and information when performing computer accessions./liliVerifies patient identification prior to collection and labels patient specimens correctly./liliAnswers all telephone calls promptly and courteously. Obtains and delivers clear and accurate phone message, with primary emphasis on accuracy and superior customer relations and telephone etiquette/liliConsistently demonstrates the ability to organize and prioritize tasks, dealing with them promptly. Takes responsibility for completing all applicable tasks during work shift, without sacrificing quality of work./liliHandles incoming specimens, including those for reference laboratory as well as the general laboratory./li/ulpSkills, Knowledge, Abilities/pulliMust be able to perform venipuncture and capillary blood collection on neonates through geriatric populations./liliMust have knowledge of the collection of all types of cultures as well as able to instruct patients on the safe and correct collection technique in accordance with department policies and guidelines./liliMust possess knowledge of the overall operation of the laboratory department to including office procedures, accounting / billing, ordering of supplies,and availability as well as correct filing of all pertinent laboratory forms./liliMust possess ability to understand instructions, reason, and make sound medical judgments./liliMust possess ability to understand meaning of words, terminology, and ideas associated with the position./liliMust be able to perform arithmetic operations quickly and accurately at the high school level./liliMust possess ability to coordinate eyes and hands to fingers rapidly and accurately in making precise movements with sufficient speed and accuracy to perform invasive procedures./liliMust possess ability to perceive similarities and differences in color./liliMust possess sufficient hand and finger dexterity to perform assigned tasks./liliMust possess ability to perceive pertinent detail in verbal and or tabular material./liliExcellent customer relations and communication skills required./liliMust be able to assist and respond to trauma events and post mortem examination./li/ulpEducation Requirements/pulliHigh school graduate or equivalent./liliMedical assistant or phlebotomy certification preferred./liliIf not nationally certified, must become so within 1 year from date of hire./li/ulpExperience/pulliOne year of experience preferred./li/ulpSchedule/ppPer the needs of the department./ppBenefits Package Available./ppFull-time benefits package includes medical, dental, vision, long-term disability (LTD), and life accidental death and dismemberment (ADD) insurance for you and your eligible family members, plus a 403(b) retirement plan with employer match./ppCabinet Peaks Medical Center is committed to providing a safe, efficient, and productive work environment for all employees.
