Scientist II

Cytokinetics seeks a hands-on Scientist I or II to support preclinical cardiovascular drug development. The role involves in vivo rodent studies, primary cell isolation, molecular assays, and iPSC-derived cardiomyocyte work to characterize compound efficacy within a collaborative research environment.
Responsibilities
- Perform hands-on rodent work including handling, dosing, and tissue collection per IACUC compliance
- Isolate primary cells and conduct ex vivo experiments such as Langendorff perfusions and contractility measures
- Execute molecular and biochemical assays to quantify disease markers and target engagement
- Culture and run functional experiments on iPSC-derived cardiomyocytes and engineered heart tissues
- Independently develop and troubleshoot cell-based and molecular assays for novel targets
Requirements
- Ph.D. in Biology, Physiology, Pharmacology, or related discipline
- 0–2 years postdoctoral experience (Scientist I) or 2–5 years (Scientist II)
- Hands-on rodent handling, dosing, and tissue collection experience
- Proficiency in Western blotting, qPCR, immunostaining, ELISA, and enzyme assays
- Ability to independently develop, optimize, and troubleshoot assays
- Experience isolating primary cells and performing ex vivo tissue preparations
- Proven project ownership and cross-disciplinary communication skills
Compensation: $148,500-$173,250 base salary
