Description

American Traveler is hiring an experienced RN for a Labor & Delivery/LDRP position at a rural acute care hospital, requiring 2+ years of L&D experience and NRP certification.

Details

• LDRP unit with 4 L&D beds and 7 postpartum beds
• Cares for patients >35 weeks gestation in labor and Mom/Baby couplets
• Follows AWHONN staffing ratios: Labor 1:1-2, Postpartum 1:2-3
• Uses MEDITECH EMR and OB Trace Vue for EFM
• Required to titrate drips including Magnesium, Oxytocin, LR, Zofran, and postpartum pain medications
• Charge nurse present on each shift and takes an assignment
• Manages neonatal respiratory equipment (CPAP, BiPap, high flow) for troubleshooting purposes
• Surgery team manages C-sections; RN role is to circulate for the baby
• 12-hour night shifts on a 7-7 block scheduling system
• Required to work every third weekend
• Holiday coverage based on availability
• Floating required to MSP/ED, primarily for 1:1 patient sitting

Requirements

• Active RN license (State or Compact/NLC) required for the state of submission
• Certifications required: BLS, ACLS, NRP
• Minimum 2 years of L&D experience required
• BSN not required
• Must pass fit testing (3M Aura 1860 or 3M 1870+); facial hair may disqualify candidates unless alternative testing is passed
• Copy of driver's license required for consideration
• Two professional references required: one supervisor from within the last 12 months, one peer or supervisor from within the last 3 years, including employment dates and rehire eligibility

Additional Information

• This is a rural hospital with limited services and no on-site NICU (nearest NICU is over an hour away)
• Success in this unit depends on teamwork, provider consistency, clinical knowledge, independence, and strong communication skills
• No clinical involvement required beyond standard unit duties
• Scrubs are provided
• Unit-specific orientation consists of three 12-hour shifts
• Hospital may cancel up to 4 shifts per 13-week assignment (3 shifts for shorter assignments)
• Must reside at least 50 miles from the facility
• Candidates may not have been employed full time, part time, or PRN with any CommonSpirit, CHI, or Dignity facility within the past year
• Up to 7 days of RTO may be requested upfront per 13-week contract; additional RTO will not be approved after submission
