Description

American Traveler is hiring an RN for a Step Down unit position requiring a PA or Compact license, 2 years of experience, and BLS/ACLS/NIHSS certifications.

Details

• Work in the Step Down unit of a hospital environment
• Patient population includes cardiovascular, orthopedic, neurological, and renal cases
• Rotating day (3x12, 7:00-19:30) and night (3x12, 19:00-7:30) shifts, anticipated 3 weeks of each within a 6-week schedule depending on unit needs
• Required to work every other weekend
• Floating required
• Uses Cerner charting system

Requirements

• Active RN license (PA or Compact) currently in hand
• Current certifications: BLS, ACLS, and NIHSS
• Minimum 2 years of relevant nursing experience required
• Cerner EMR experience required
• Charge nurse experience preferred
• Skills in IV therapy, central/PICC line management, cardiac drip titration, and telemetry monitoring preferred
• Experience with respiratory support equipment (BiPAP/CPAP, HFNC) preferred
• 1 supervisory reference from within the past year required for consideration
• Must complete lab work within 72 hours of signing contract

Additional Information

• Provide step down level nursing care including cardiac monitoring, dysrhythmia interpretation, and management of post-cardiac cath and post-MI patients
• Support total joint replacement, ortho trauma, and renal/hemodialysis patient care
• Must reside outside a 50-mile radius of the facility to be eligible
• First-time travelers are welcome to apply
• Scrub color requirement: navy blue or white
• Candidates must complete PA fingerprinting and Childline registration promptly upon signing contract to avoid credentialing delays
• Any prior permanent or per diem employment with Penn Highlands Healthcare must be disclosed, with a required 18-month break before returning as a traveler
