Senior Software Engineer, Strategy Analytics

Salary: $15,000 - 15,000 per year Requirements:

• We require a bachelors degree in computer science or equivalent professional experience.
• We look for 6+ years of experience building and operating analytics or data infrastructure systems.
• We need strong proficiency in Python and SQL.
• We expect deep experience with distributed query engines and large-scale compute systems.
• We value demonstrated ownership of large-scale or mission-critical data infrastructure.
• We require strong data modeling capability, including schema design, partitioning strategy, and reproducible computation.
• We need expertise in metadata management, data lineage, and sound data governance practices.
• Preferred: experience leading architectural migrations or major data-platform refactors.
• Preferred: familiarity with AWS technologies and on-premises compute clusters such as Slurm, SSH, and Unix.
• Preferred: exposure to quantitative research or machine learning environments.

• We own the implementation and ongoing operation of recurring analytics pipelines, including monitoring, alerting, and reliability improvements.
• We lead the architectural evolution of our analytics platform, including schema standardization, DAG consolidation, and modernization of legacy workflows.
• We drive cross-team technical alignment when consolidating duplicated or inconsistent analytics outputs.
• We build and maintain foundational analytics tables and metrics with strong schema discipline and reproducible computation.
• We define and roll out reliability standards such as SLOs, observability patterns, and runbooks across analytics pipelines.
• We improve transparency and usability through documentation, discoverability, and clear data contracts.
• We optimize distributed compute and SQL query performance, and design data layouts such as partitioning and file sizing for columnar storage.
• We mentor engineers through design reviews and help raise the bar for operational and modeling rigor.
• We collaborate closely with Data Scientists, Researchers, and Data Infrastructure teams to ensure reliable, queryable analytics datasets.
• We participate in incident response and postmortems, and help stabilize critical analytics pipelines.
